Yep, you know I'm talkin about Echeverry! Ive's had it here: Celades cleared to face Fire, Red Bulls waive Echeverry Metz, time to celebrate!
Well now I thing the next to go will be Terry Boss...with him in the injury list we are complete, 20 Sr. plus 4 Dev...so when he is ready to return will be kick out too....We don't need four goal keepers and Duffy looking better, younger, cheaper and taller than him... Nah...When Pacheco arrive we will have one over and we kick out, Boyens or Goldy...
So I walk into my son's team practice yesterday at the Superdome in Waldwick, NJ and notice a familiar figure, with Red Bulls gear on, standing by the trainer and observing. After a while there, I say hello to one of the coaches and he turns around and calls the guy over. He says "Hey Oscar, this guy's a big Red Bulls fan". At this point it hits me that Oscar is none other than Oscar Echeverry. Well, he walks over, or rather limps over, and says hello to me and several of the parents (he speaks pretty good English). Anyway, I was wondering what he was doing there. Maybe he's looking for a job training (Former Red Bull and current Iron Men's forward Jerrod Laventure is a trainer there now), but then again he's still limping. I also wondered how it was that he could be waived if he wasn't fully recovered. Anyway, I remembered that the guy training my son's team, Freddy Guiran, played 10 yrs in the Colombian league for a bunch of teams (and, as a matter of fact, was on a MetroStars preseason roster - in 2004, I believe), so I'm sure they were teammates down there. But nevermind that, as I'm just thankful he took the money and limped off.
As someone who went through a knee surgery over a year ago and is also still limping, I feel for the guy. But my doctor was up front with me, and told me my professional playing days are over. He said I should stick to the over 40 leagues and coed leagues (if the girls aren't too agressive, that is.)
