I really wanted to post a coaching question in here but can't get my count up high enough to get privileges. Sick of it. This place is no help to me. -HS & Club Coach
For all the coaches out there trying to teach their kids about opening up their hips when receiving the ball and moving off the ball, here is an excellent breakdown of Theo Walcott's goal against Reading that demonstrates it. Animated GIF to start lets you go back and see it all in action while the stills make you understand each move! http://soccerwithoutlimits.com/dril...own-theo-walcotts-goal-against-reading/12382/
https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/training-the-brain.1872385/ A great thread from 2011 that has links and a number of regular posters discussed coaching basics-- -training the brain -sports pyschology -perception and clumping -Spanish approach to training tactics -Brazilian approach to training tactics -how to counter tiki-taki
Great thread and very informative links. Me and my team are always looking to improve our game and skills. And this is just the place to found fresh/new ideas. We also use a lot of exercises that can be found on our website. I also have a big TV in our locker room and we watch inspirational videos from youtube before the game. From experiences I can tell you that kids relax and generally play better. I also use a simple visualization program to inspire them to think big so they can image their goals. You can check the program here.
More of a question than a post but I'm looking for a FREE template to draw up practice plans. Something simple to use on the computer so my plans look uniform and slightly more organized than the chicken scratch I have going on now. I suppose I could use something like MS Publisher and lots of copypasta but I'd rather not.

Your google skills are much better than mine. The first one had a perfect thing for what I was looking for. the last one was good for a whole practice session so I'm sure I'll find a use for it at some point. Thanks!

I don't know if this fits here necessarily, but the old Ajax speed training tapes are great with footage of players like Davids, Overmars, Berkamp, Seedorf, etc. all training together when they were young. Guess who one of the coaches was? Louis Van Hall. Some great ideas on physical and technical development with training session ideas.
Courtesy of CoachP365, Tobin Heath (USWNT) demonstrates a simple drill to get touches and learn to work in tight spaces.
Recommended to my girls to try at home. I expect a 0% compliance with this suggestion but worth a shot.
Thanks guys. After a few weeks I got the "but coach, I don't have cones". So I grabbed a shoe, a water bottle and litter (crushed cans, plastic bottles) and set them up.
my kids only juggle or attempt things while simultaneously jumping on a trampoline. otherwise it's just too boring.
A classic post. Nick Laino explains how he trains wing mids: "I train wing mids in a 4-4-2 and I do it functionally and not with drills. First you explain the wing mid roll in general with the team...." http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/i-need-a-coaches-expertise.2017736/#post-31924784
