The smokebomb on the quiet side was awesome! Has that ever happened before on the quiet side outside of La Norte?
Darn. I was going to start this thread. It was in our section, or between sections 207 & 208. Not quite sure. We were in this game against the San Houston Claquakamos. Watch out of the quiet side!
Not the supporter's club side. Stands don't bounce. Wouldn't even if they did. We sit. On hands mostly. All seats sold, only half used. Part 'family section'. That said, there are always a few who make noise. We tend to disturb others, though.
I know I will get hell for this, but what's so great about choking everyone with a smoke bomb? Who started this "tradition" and why do people think it is "cool"? Seems just dumb to me, and as one of the people who got a face full of the quiet side smoke bomb I was not amused.
It's gotta be the quiet side when I seem to be the loud mouth ! I didn't like the smoke bomb though... It not only choked me up but burnt me in several places, like my scalp. I don't know how they set them off on the other side without it causing a problem. Not to mention it was orange (the Houston color)!
Um, as someone who regularly stands amongst smoke bombs, I call serious shenanigans on the burning scalp, etc. It can't burn you unless someone picks it up and touches you with it.
hehe well while I thought it was amusing cos I never excpected it it really has no place on quiet side as that's not type of thing people looking to sit there are there for. So no catching hell from me As to who started it, not sure I remeber it in 80s and I'm sure it's been going on before, probably started in Argentina/Brazil or Italy or all at the same time. Ones we have are baby smokes so not very chokey compared to big army/naval ones (which I don't find that chokey too but maybe I have mutant lungs ).
I didn't say so, but the reactions of GlennAA11 and soccerkitty were more typical of our section than my reaction. There was lots of mouth covering and other dramatic gestures being made. Just smelled like 4th of July to me.
Yeah, but the quiet side held it's own in that match. I had 3 newbies from out of town and it seemed they enjoyed themselves. As for the noisy side, newbies always point with a smile on their face-- good work as usual.
I couldn't believe that when I saw it. I hope my pictures of it came out ok. I'll know in a few minutes.
its only been 3 matches sparky i have to say the quiet side's greatest moment was in the 04 season and i forget the match, it might have been a playoff match, and the ref was just atrocious. the supporters and folks in the east stands were just riding him and he and the assistants walked towrad the quiet side to go intot the dressing room at the half. all of a sudden the entire quiet side jumped to their feet and booed those assholes right off the pitch. it was fantastic.
The idiot who lit it off was sitting in the aisle seat directly across from me (he is one of the usual seat poachers who comes to 207-208 and repeatedly gets told to: get out of somebody's seat; and put out his cigarette) Anyway, he was waving the thing showering everyone with 10 feet with sparks and melting sulfur. Real smart. He finally dropped it when everyone started yelling at him. He probably also figured out he was putting himself on the skyline by standing on the quiet side waving a smokebomb in the middle of the aisle - not exactly a low-profile activity.
Well, apparently I was close enough for the sparks to hit me. I could see some of them burning down on my skin, but after I left and went to put my hair up I found crap from it that had burned down and remained on my head. When I went to brush it off it hurt. I don't f****ng lie. So don't insinuate that I am. I didn't think anything of it going off so close to me until that s**t happened. So, why don't you go and drink some more. That gives you mental clarity, right .
