I actually saw his name appear in the last couple of the BMG U23 games. Late substitutions. No impact. But at least he's got a pulse.
Now it's back to discouraging. The last two weeks have been blowout wins for BMG's U23 team and no hint of Harwat, not even at the end of the game.
I don't know if it's significant, but Akron U's soccer website was running a "Diary from Germany" sort of deal where Harwat sent occasion little tales of playing in the Bundesliga. Hasn't been an update in two months, leading one to wonder if he's even there any more.
He is, he just went back for the new season. He struggled with injuries last season, but seemed to be fairly fit before he left. Should be interesting to see how it goes this season.
He's been playing in U23 games recently. He even started on 8/21, but mostly he's been a late sub. No goals that I've noticed.
He's been playing more recently, and scoring. His last goal won their last game. The guy in front of him, Bekim Kastrati, was promoted to the bundesliga squad. He's scored 3 times in the last 3 weeks.
I can't read this, but here's a picture of Harwat after a recent goal http://www.borussia.de/CDA/borussia_news_details,581,0,newsid-113655,de.html
And he just scored again this past week...Borussia website has him with 3 goals, but I think he has 5 or 6 counting cup games. Here's a link to the story, in German, but at least there's a cool pic... http://www.borussia.de/CDA/borussia_news_details,581,0,newsid-114088,de.html
And the Bundesliga team is doing well, too. I wonder if Elber has any of the old magic left that made him a one-man gang in his prime.
Kirk writes a periodic update of his escapades and it is posted on the Akron website. The latest issue is October 14 and it sounds like he is doing well. http://gozips.collegesports.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/harwat-diary-index.html
Looks like Harwat is no longer with Borussia. There is a line in a transfer list that says that he went to Ashland University, in what capacity I don't know.
