According to net speculation, ( see www.mugglenet.com for one example ) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the 6th book in the series, is set to be released in June of 2005. Word has it that Scholastic is looking at June 11th and June 18th as possible release dates.
That's cool, though I was selfishly hoping for earlier. The bummer is that the movie (azkaban) won't be out until November 05; I was hoping for June/July 05. But, it's supposedly got a $ 300 million dollar budget, so it should be interesting.
You mean the Goblet of Fire movie? Prisoner of Azbakan came out last summer. Goblet of Fire was a huge book, I don't see how they can make just one movie out of it without cutting out a lot of the book -- I'll be bummed if they lose the Quidditch World Cup. But $300 million sounds good for two movies, kind of like Kill Bill.
It's going to be one movie, and I don't think it'll be a huge problem. Goblet of Fire also had A LOT more narrative than the first three books. When that transfers to movie form, it won't seem quite so long. From what I've read, they have already filmed scenes from the Quidditch WC, the Yule Ball and the 2nd task. Speculation is that they've cut the section from the start of the book with the Dursleys (which is a shame, because GoF has by far my favorite Dursley beginning, with the Weasleys exploding out of their fireplace). An update on the release of book six, the new rumor is that Scholastic will announce the release date in January, which augurs well for the June rumor. When Order of the Phoenix was announced, the announcement came in January and the book came in June. They need time to hype in and get the preorders rolling.
