One year ago today Steve Clark irreparably damaged Columbus Crew SC. We have never been the same. Life is uncertain. Take the time to love your loved ones. I love you. Happy anniversary. One love, hangthadj
But Clark gave it his best and it was a horrible pass by Trapp who deserves at least 50% of the blame
My brother and I were initially speechless and then I burst out laughing. I could not believe what I'd just witnessed. Then Tchani gave up on the ball... And some woman hit my car in the parking lot. That was a bad day.
Weird that this was posted today as 12/6/2016 is the 30th anniversary of me attending my first ever professional match. A loss. Apt
Does "gave it his best" mean take two unnecessary short steps towards the ball while Valeri closes him down?
Wrong, we are different from that day. You forgot that today we no longer have Steve. Would have thought the realest fan of the sunshine brigade would have caught that...
I'm saying he took a horrible touch on a pass that he should have never received or immediately cleared . He was trained to keep possession so he tried his best to do so which was clearly not good enough.
Despite what I posted, I was still hoping and believing. There was just that feeling that I had already witnessed what would sink us casting doubt and sucking some of the fun out.
I give a lot of credit to Porter for simply outcoaching 3G at every turn. His players knew all of our tricks. Valeri wasn't charging on luck. They had our number from the onset. They probably watched tape and we were probably lax on backpasses at the beginning of every match. So they made us pay, dearly. And the best part is that Gregg STILL kept doing it in 2016. If LA comes calling, let him go and he can take his little project boy Duka with him. Heaven knows how he crowed that he so wished that he could have groomed Duka instead of Robert. Well, he got his wet dream. Eboe
This was such a glaring weakness than 55% of the casual fan base knew that Steve Clark could not be trusted with the ball at his feet. Porter is no genius, it's that our coach couldn't or wouldn't recognize the team's Achilles heel and take corrective measures. Even Taylor Twellman understood that this was our team's biggest weakness.
The ball wasn't in the front of goal until Clark dragged it there. Use your right foot man. 101. That was nauseating why did I watch this. Those yellow jerseys look nice, though.
Oh, I know that we knew it. I didn't mean to make Porter sound like a genius so much as make GGG sound like an idiot for never ever ever mixing up tactics or playing it safe, at all. I fully welcome his imminent departure to LA. Although I could see Sigi going there instead. I'd rather see Sigi here, he knows how to win things. Eboe
I think it illuminating to ponder whether there was one single player on the Crew 2015 who would have started on the 2008 team. I go down the roster position by position and for each match up the answer varies from no to hell no to outright laughter. I'd go down the list but it only depresses me.
Never a Brian Carroll fan. I would play Trapp or Tchani instead of Carroll. Meram instead of Robbie. Ale, fit the Sigi system but I think Ola might be better overall. I would still play Parkhurst, Naess or Sauro over Danny O'Red at CB. Other than that I am with you.
