If something is "easy" yet somehow nobody can make it happen, I don't think it's actually "easy."

"Keeping Netanyahu in power" and "Strengthening Israel's safety and stability in the long term" are actually two very different things.

On the one hand, I don't think this is true necessarily--martyrdom is not a new thing, and it's entirely possible to be a person of very high ideals who is willing to give their life for a cause.

On the other hand, from what little I've read about this guy, he seems like he might have been a bit of a lost soul looking for meaning in his life.

It would totally be easy, if not for those damn Israelis!

I suppose you could say peace is "simple", but that's different from "easy."

obviously duplication is that one side doesn’t really want a solution that involves two states. If this were a more “even” conflict , I’d imagine Bibi would be more willing to negotiate and make concessions . But since the upper hand I so massive , he doesn’t really feel that he has to .

While that very well be true, the negotiations have been going on well before Bibi came to power. And Israel didn't used to be this military juggernaut, let alone some regional power, and yet, no peace deal was ever reached.

Yep. I am talking about now (or at least past decade or two). Back up until the 90s it was Palestinian policy to not negotiate and not recognize Israel.

Negotiations basically stopped when Netanyahu came back to power in 2009, which was 15 years ago.

And even prior to that, the only meaningful negotiations after 2000 were after Sharon had a stroke, because Sharon had little interest in negotiating either.

Biden seemed quite confident about a ceasefire agreement earlier in the week but now the reporting looks quite negative sadly. Especially the tipping point on the humanitarian side has been reached. Without a ceasefire to allow delivery of aid at scale, the consequences are likely to be even more horrific than currently.

    it's sickening...

...each day brings more Israeli war crime. Now IDF is shooting starving people as they stand in line for scraps of food...

...IDF deploying mass starvation of entire population as weapon of war...

I disagree. There is a lot of pride involved. I once did a deep study of the Triple Alliance war against Paraguay and it's amazing how far pride takes you down a dark path.

It is sickening. Here’s the other side of the story.

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/dozen...for-aid-idf-opens-fire-blamed-for-deaths/amp/

Other clips of video out there support the Times of Israel story. Of course they are biased unlike a State of Palestinian account.

I don't get it, is the idea that these were starving people who were killed in a stampede supposed to make it fine/better?

I would say that the right political wing needs Hamas. Hamas also needs further IDF incursions although they may have overdone it this time. The alternative is that the burgeoning Israeli economy could partner with a Palestinian state much like the relationship that the US has with Canada and Mexico. I understand that there are Palestinians that want to build that relationship but they are still a minority.

There is a blockade in which food hasn't gotten through to people in months, and children have died of starvation. Of course there's going to be a stampede.

I sincerely hope that you're never that hungry.

Here's the video of the event.
My take is that this is evidently a stampede to the trucks and the soldiers got spooked.

Regarding the IDF, yes there is a huge difference. Regarding the victims, no of course not.

Context matters when trying to lay blame. Nobody is trying to make anything fine or better ffs.
