just a building, perhaps (although I'm sure it means more than that to those who worship there), but why risk further inflaming tensions in the region by destroying it? we've seen the outrage a cartoon can generate in the Muslim world.

 

Considering the insane stuff that same account has been posting, I am very skeptical about the source to say the least.

 

Honestly the only surprising thing about this is that it took this long.

 

I'm from West-Flanders, where countless buildings that were hundreds of years old were destroyed in the Great War. Some of them were rebuilt. It is definitely not the same.
And no one even pretends to claim otherwise. At best you get a poor facsimile of what was there before.

That makes a point that I've been considering... that these people weren't being questioned in a law seminar or constitutional law examination. They were being asked questions in a setting that was political and their answer should have been presented in that way.

Some of the retractions also don't make any sense. As that points out...

Harvard published a statement from Gay on X (formerly Twitter) suggesting that her critics had misunderstood her: “Calls for violence or genocide against the Jewish community, or any religious or ethnic group are vile, they have no place at Harvard, and those who threaten our Jewish students will be held to account.”​

Sooooo, hang on.... calling for genocide of Jews, (i.e. killing all of them), IS allowable because of 'mah free speech'. But 'threatening Jewish students' ISN'T? How does that work then?

So we're gonna kill all of them EXCEPT the ones at our own institution so they don't need to worry. Yeah, that makes sense
