B/c lumping what happened in Jenin to a list of other reasons is not something Hamas needs to murder Israelis. https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/30/middleeast/hamas-jerusalem-bus-stop-shooting-intl/index.html Hamas celebrated the attack, and said it was “a direct response to the unprecedented crimes committed by the occupying forces, including brutal massacres in the Gaza Strip, the killing of children in Jenin, and widespread violations against Palestinian prisoners. Moreover, the continued violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the prevention of worshippers’ access to it,” Hamas added.
Well the attack in Jenin shows that IDF operations are continuing in the West Bank. So the ceasfire is obviously only for Gaza? Otherwise the IDF would have broken it in the West Bank.
Peace is never that simple or easily won. You know that, I know that, everyone knows that. It requires constant effort to build rapport and a shared pathway. Bibi's government is showing no signs of even trying, and in fact a lot of their actions and verbiage is more toward the genocide side. Certainly those in Palestine will feel oppressed on a level most here will never have to experience. That kind of environment doesn't help build any peace. It'll take years, decades even, but peace can be won and sustained if the toxic elements on both sides go away to let others give peace it's chance.
At this stage it is clear that is a strategy adopted by some members of the Bibi government, namely by Smotrich the Finance minister to encourage and support Israelis settlers to basically seize/steal Palestinians lands by any means, including violence. This is simply unconscionable, specially in those fraughts times. Bibi is either approving this or turning a blind eye since he needs those far right elements and votes. I was listening to a podcast on the Ezra Klein show, David Miller a State department veteran who was been closely involved in M-E peace negotiations from Reagan to Dubya, made the very same point.
The best team in The Netherlands is still champion of that league even if they aren’t as good as Man City, and it doesn’t matter. What Democrats would be in another nation is basically irrelevant in most discussions.
This is the problem we had over here with Corbyn where some people were too dumb to be able to tell the difference between supporting the Palestinians and attacking the Jewish people, (as opposed to the current Israeli administration). The main problem was that instead of addressing the few issues that did exist, Corbyn and his office said that the incidents were exaggerated, (which was probably true up to a point), and they then interfered with the investigations of the body they'd set up to look into the cases although, again, to what extent is probably overblown. The other problem was that tories, (who have absolutely HUGE levels of both Islamophobia and antisemitism, together with every OTHER sort of bigotry), took the opportunity to try and pretend that the labour party was as endemically racist as they are. It was a typical example of the sort of 'bothsides' nonsense we're seeing now with Musk. The other issue we had was that some parts of the press, stirred up by the tory party, decided that simply denying that something you'd done was antisemitic was deemed to be antisemitic and that you were 'in denial'. Hard to know how you're supposed to get around that one, tbh.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ian-boy-shot-dead-Israeli-sniper-unarmed.html CCTV shows 'unarmed Palestinian boy, 16, shot dead by Israeli sniper': Teen was gunned down outside hospital where he planned to give blood The boy was killed just after midday last week on the second day of Israel's raid In the CCTV, Abdulrahman can be seen in the street, apparently empty-handed By Christian Oliver Published: 16:59 GMT, 10 July 2023 | Updated: 17:17 GMT, 10 July 2023
CCTV footage has emerged appearing to show the moment a 16-year-old Palestinian boy - supposedly unarmed - was gunned down and killed by an Israeli sniper during last week's Jenin military operation. The video now appears to rubbish Israel's claims that only militant combatants were killed in the intensive search for weapons in the Jenin refugee camp. Boy the murderers were lying
8yo boy shot dead in Jenin yesterday, IDF said he was hurling explosive devices (Molotov cocktail?)... Two Palestinian boys aged 8 and 15 are among four people shot dead as Israeli forces launch raid in occupied West Bank, local officials say: IDF says 'two high-ranking terrorists' died in operation | Daily Mail Online
condemning the killing of children, any and all children, should be easy, for anyone who's not lost touch with their humanity completely.
As it happens i Ben Rhodes simply summarised how I feel about all this In his view, Musk's antisemitism in recent days is exactly the kind of stuff that got his family killed in the holocaust. Bibi and others have been going around equating criticism of Israel with antisemitism. But then he embraces Musk. Putin. Orban (a big mate of his). So basically antisemitism is being weaponised - and they are fine with it, so long as you support Bibi and the IDF. So basically while leaders on the left are fighting against antisemitism, the right is weaponising it. Sorry but i can't get on board with it
This is actually what happens in all the peace talks. Some random group commits an act and then one of the sides walks away saying that they can't have peace because of this act.
Well the settlers with their IDF bodyguards and on lookers seem free to kill at will in the West Bank. Just saying.
You mean when he basically said Muslims are morally superior and non-muslims live like animals ? And when he compared homosexuals to pedophiles and sexual deviants ? I mean, that shit gets you fired nowadays if uncovered in your past even with an apology. Perhaps he shouldn't have gotten hired at all at MSNBC.
Oh look. Musk boosting Orban today. Bibis other Jew hating bestie The day after Musk claims he doesn’t believe in the antisemitic Great Replacement conspiracy theory, he boosts an antisemite and one of the world’s most influential believers in Great Replacement. pic.twitter.com/mzp1RU38pJ— Elad Nehorai (@EladNehorai) November 30, 2023
Didn't you just talk about optics!?! When the war started the benched Hassan and two other Muslim reporters. Come on, be honest, would you make that call now!?! In this environment?
