https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/08/07/chicago-fire-pick-micheal-azira-trade-montreal-impact I don't know anything about Arira, but he can't be any worse than Corrales. Don't we need defenders? So of course we trade for a midfielder. That's about right.
I hope this guy is a defensive midfielder, because in 7 years (9,170 minutes) he has 1 goal and 4 assists.
everyone Pawno puts out there is a disaster at FB. I've given up on judging player ability on this squad, but I'll say this - he was no worse than Vincent, who was on Pawno's roster sheet in permanent ink regardless of performance. Also, we should know by now not to sign 23 year old defenders if we're gonna ditch them after a couple mistakes, particularly with this staff.
To be fair the Fire haven't had a quality FB since Sega left for Cyprus. Granted , he was "off and on " and decent when he came back ... and Polster was starting to she he could be a quality FB. But other than that... a decade of futility .
From the article: "And also, Nemanja Nikolic's been more profligate than Dwyer in front of the net. Chicago Fire fans know that." This is simply wrong. Nikolic has 7 goals from 34 shots (15 SoG) Sapong has 9 goals from 53 shots (23 SoG) Katai has 4 goals from 86 goasl (24 SoG) Nikolic's problem is not that he "misses too many easy shots" (as many people have argued), although he missed a couple of sitters early in the season. The problem is that he not shooting enough. He is not receiving the services, so he is tracking further back than he did in the previous two seasons. He also seems unhappy.
I honestly wish we could keep this exact team next year with a new coach. The underperformance here is spectacular.
I love what Bastian has done for us, but unless he signs for significantly less or as a player/coach. It would have been nice to see what we COULD have done with a competent coach.
Surprised by how far in the lead Katai is on shots. Also, looking at the stats, are we sure Kronholm is any better than Ousted?
Doug McIntyre @ByDougMcIntyre The Chicago Fire came this close to landing Vincent Kompany. Details and much more as 24 Thoughts returns for the business end of the MLS season:
If by "this close," they mean about 6,000 miles and a couple of million dollars, I will agree. Yes, he could leave as captain of Man City and take over his first club...or go to the 2019 Chicago Fire. Yeah, I am sure he had to contemplate THAT one for a good two seconds.
I call bull shit on that one. No way was Kompany coming here. Just another made up thing that Nelly can point to and say "See we tried".
rooney is playing next year as a player coach. why can't we do that? andy would be the one to think "if it works in england, it'll work for us."
Just because this guy writes for Yahoo (and how does Yahoo still exist?), does not add any credibility to this ridiculous rumor.
IMO, it is a BS story that the new Fire BS specialists put out to see if it would catch on and create some buzz.
I was wrong. Not second by end of July. Tied for second two weeks into August. Will finish his Fire career 2nd all time...in 3 seasons. With many, many less games and shots than Razov.
