should be a welcomed changed from seeing Mexico's face every cup, although they probably will be the second team "invited" as well.

I thought Mexico had cemented their place as permanent guests, I don't think they need a formal invitation anymore

I'd like to see Guatemala in the Copa America... they've have improved quite a bit. But if I could have it my way it would only be South American teams.

In any case, i'd would've liked to see Peru play this Gold Cup instead of playing that crap Kirin Cup in Japan. Especially now that the semis and final will be here in New York/new jersey. :(

Thats good stuff. Lets have more teams in The Copa America.. little by little we can start infiltrating S. American football, =)

It can only help both confederations.

2 spots for Conmebol in the Gold Cup and 2 spots for Concacaf in The Copa America.. That would be great..

I guess it benefits us mostly than them..but it could help there weaker squads to participate in the Gold Cup

Good chance for Guatemala to face different and better teams, its not oficial yet but I heard CONMEBOL wants to see how well Guatemala does in the hex first amd then decide.

I want Guatemala to go to the Copa America badly too.CONMEBOL invited them because they had good results against south american teams in the past 3-4 months. It is also a good chance for some south american teams to see some of Guatemalas players.

It was in La Opinion, a spanish newspaper out of Los Angeles. They are usually fairly accurate but nothing has come out of CONMEBOL yet. No offense to Guatemala but I'd imagine CONMEBOL would rather have Mexico and USA then Guatemala.

I know USA is the favorite, but CONMEBOL has shown interest in other cental american teams and USA might decline the invitation due to political reasons.
