"I’m grateful I was able to sign with Real Madrid and watch my children grow up. There were times when I lived in London by myself and didn’t have that opportunity. Every time I had a day off, I’d travel to see them, even for just a few hours. Now, I am at their side during all the important moments in their lives. After six years, Madrid is my home. The people, their hospitality, the food, the weather, the country: they all convinced me that Madrid is where I want to spend my life after my career." Little tidbit from Tibo's website post that can be found here: https://www.thibautcourtois.com/madrid-my-home
He's been an incredible success story, the guy was absolutely destroyed based on how popular Keylor was, not many can weather that kind of storm.
I’m still shocked by it all, he went from looking completely psychologically in ruins to showing himself to be very very resolute.
He had an awful 1st season and has shown incredible mentality to recover from that. Arguably the best goalie in the world right now.
This season I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a GK who is consistently performing at his level. Oblak has been the best but he’s having an off season so far. Although the esteemed and highly qualified journalists who vote for the best players awards think otherwise, they are probably right since they are so esteemed and highly qualified.
20 - Thibaut Courtois 🇧🇪 has saved 20 of the last 23 shots on target he has faced for @realmadriden in @LaLigaEN and 17 of the last 18 at the Santiago Bernabéu, conceding only Gonçalo Guedes' 🇵🇹 goal. Giant. pic.twitter.com/wVSnupAfFf— OptaJose (@OptaJose) January 8, 2022
We’ve been blessed at goalkeeper for a very long time. Thibaut is the best since Iker, but I can’t ever remember having a Karius level keeper where every match you think there’s a mistake coming. Even Cesar was a competent keeper. I can’t think of another club with all hits at the keeper position for twenty years. We have the opposite situation at rightback where each player we sign is cursed with injuries or incompetence no matter how much money we throw at it.
I actually was confident that he would save the last minute penalty in the super cup. When he dived the wrong way I thought they’d scored and I was actually surprised. Then I saw that he still managed to save it, and was like “yeah I thought he’d do that”. I havent felt this confident about a keeper winning his battles since Peter Schmeichel. It must be amazing to be in central defence and have Courtois behind you and Mendy to your left.

We could have lost by 4 or 5. The only way we have a chance in the second leg is if we have healthy Benzema (etc) and some how are forced to play Camavinga and Valverde in midfield with Modric or Kroos holding (I would make Modric the DLP/DM). We won't though.
🤯 Leo Messi has never scored against Real Madrid when Thibaut Courtois has been in goal (6 matches)😬 He's had 28 attempts in that time, including last night's penalty miss. The streak goes on... pic.twitter.com/NsHY59gzb1— WhoScored.com (@WhoScored) February 16, 2022
That penalty save could prove to be huge for us. A 1-0 loss away is a lot different to when we had the away goal rule.
Honestly though, look at this: How many ties have teams botched by not taking their chances and getting an "ok" result out of the first leg and then completely messing up the second game and eventually going out? I'm saying this because in my mind it seems like it happens quite often: We gave Juve a slim chance and they came to the Bernabeu and took it. PSG, for what it's worth could have potentially put the tie to bed, but they didn't. Which means they could end up paying for it.
I love having this guy between the sticks. An incredible talent. He's been so massive for us this year.
I'm happy we have Courtois. But as with a prime Iker, I would us rather have the attackers or midfielders be the talking point of the MOTM performances.
Real Madrid have conceded just 31 goals in 41 matches in all competitions this season with a rate of 0.76 goals conceded per game. That is the second lowest goals conceded per game rate in the last 40 years. pic.twitter.com/TE5FwnLxkz— Real Madrid Stats (@RMadrid_Stats) March 17, 2022
Another I have called *err... well not fully Zidane05 was the one who thought it better to make Modric the CAM with the young B2Bs behind him lol
