His last season in La Liga. Should be entering his prime at 26. I expect him to be at his best now that his personal life will be sorted as well.
I can understand being unhappy with this transfer window in general, but you can’t turn your nose up at this transfer. You’d be an idiot to think that getting a top top goalkeeper, who is still young in goalkeeping years for only 35 million in this market is ‘meh’. Very happy with this, I just hope they can work it out respectfully between Courtois and Keylor.

I forgot that he was already part of an iconic RM moment. After losing to Real Madrid now Courtois is playing for the Kings of Europe. pic.twitter.com/P9qn9c793V— Real Madrid Info ³⁵ (@RMadridInfo) August 8, 2018
I have my doubts on Courtois for being a good fit under Lopetegui tbh. His ability on the ball and his distribution are underwhelming. Which may be problematic when for playing it out from back under pressure. The likes of Ter Stegen, Alisson etc. are miles ahead of him in these area.
Great signing. I would absolutely love to see 2 proven world class goal keepers here. We suffered from Navas' injuries and not having a capable back up. Welcome Thibaut, hope you have a glorious time here.
Fantastic player, we’ve added a genuine world class player to the squad, no one can deny that. I like Navas and respect him a lot, but in my eyes, Courtois is a significant upgrade on the GK position particularly when you take into account age. He had a brilliant World Cup and showed his true ability, we shouldn’t focus so much on his last season at Chelsea.
Martinez has a similar philosophy and Courtois did well with Belgium. Don't think it will be an issue. Allison also takes unnecessary risks with the ball as if he is playing futsal and was underwhelming with his decision making at the WC. Tall guy yet didn't even come out for the corner they conceded the goal new his area.
I don’t think the 35m is a big deal in the grand scheme of things and given that we haven’t spent much over the last few years. Best to bring him in now and secure the deal, so that we can upgrade a position in the starting XI, particularly when we’ve become weaker in other positions through player sales. His inclusion is a boost to the team’s collective ability and timely one too.
Shit thread title. I like: "Have no fear, Courtois is here.". Anyways, Capital news. Our GK for the next 10 yrs hopefully.

Pretty shit on navas to be honest he is better than navas but not by much. pretty meh signing wasting are whole summer for something we dont need.
I am sure we will make a world class GK out of him, maybe even best in the world level because: 1) He is only now going to be entering his prime. 2) He will have a better defense than Chelsea covering for him. 3) He will be with his family in an environment that he has always wanted to be.
Iker was the starter in 2015, he's never lost a tie. Keylor is also 3/3 in CL finals. Pretty sure Courtois has a similar record. Let's not forget his assist. I have a similar concern, in that Courtois seems like a good for for teams like Chelsea and Atleti because they sit back and let the other teams cross the ball all day. Thats perfect for Tibo who can outmuscle players and win balls out of the air, not so much the way Madrid plays. Here he is going to have to come off his line to go 1 v. 1 against strikers, he's going to be asked to play the ball out of the back with his feet, etc. I don't see us utilizing his "strengths" as much as his former clubs did. Not that he is a bad GK or anything but it just goes back to the Iker v. Buffon debate. Buffon was good for how Juve wanted to play, Iker was good for us.
We got our No.9. Sometimes I score too! 😉⚽️🎯 #CFC pic.twitter.com/FRr6eWf1La— Thibaut Courtois (@thibautcourtois) January 9, 2017 http://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2018/08/08/5b6b4dfd22601da01a8b45dd.html

They also allowed me to be 3 years at Atlético, which helped me be the keeper I am now.” - Courtois in 2017 pic.twitter.com/M0xn4IcXjI— EiF (@EiFSoccer) August 9, 2018 Keylor Navas had been nothing but loyal. He even said that he's as eager to leave Real Madrid as he is to die. That tells you something about how much it means to be here for the player. It's great to want to be closer to your family and all, but you also have to show that you wanna be at the club with your performances and words. I have no qualms with Courtois playing CdR games if Navas outperforms him. At least I know where Navas's heart is. We are all aware that players and people in general say things they don't mean to garner favor, but the wiser thing to do is choose your words wisely and not say unnecessary things that put you in a bad light. Fans at Madrid have turned on players for saying far less disrespectful things about us than that.
Worth it for the salt machines in Madrid alone, gettting another top 3 GK who is only 26 is just the icing on the cake.
