    Re: Negocio redondo

I think that the reason for it is because Chilean players adapt so well to the Mexican league that Pegaso thinks they can send young mexican players to Chile and develop them there. I think it would be a smart move to send young mexican players to Chile and take them back to Mexico when they're ready. Im only guessing that this is their plan.

I bet nothing happens in this category. They see that Chilean players do very well in Mexico (and their price is cheap) so they want to make good deals and bring in players to Mexico.

Wow, so many teams from santiago, do they all have their own soccer specific stadium?

what are the capacities of all this stadiums?

Are santiago and conception the only metro areas with more than 1 million people in chile?

    Re: Re: First division teams

No, only Colo-Colo, Catolica, Union Espanola and Palestino have their own stadium... if I'm not missing any.

I have no idea about the capacities, I know that Colo-Colo's is the biggest (bigger than the national stadium which belongs to no team and has 45,000 capacity), Catolica's is rather small and so are the rest.

Santiago has over 7 million people, by far the biggest city and then Concepcion comes in size. Chile is full of small cities.

The biggest teams in Chile are Colo-Colo, U de Chile and Catolica.

The university derby is Catolica vs. U de Chile, but games between any of these three are a huge deal.

Ovalle and biggest clubs in Chile

Ovalle is a small city in Chile's northern part (4th region) known for it perfect weather valleys and agricultural products including wine and pisco!!. It has had some glorious days back in the 70 and 80's. I was not aware of the upset, but I believe they play in 1 B which is our second division league.

The biggest clubs (most popular) are Colo-Colo, la U de Chile and Catolica. (all in Santiago) Of course, then you have Cobreloa that it is always on the top winning championships and doing well on Copa Libertadores. Then you have a second tier of popular teams that have a good following:

Wanderers in Valparaiso, Union Espanola in Santiago and Universidad de COncepcion in Concepcion are other big ones.

A team that will do well again is Everton in Vina del Mar they won the second division and automatically go to first division.

Thanks for the information on Ovalle Chile and also futbol in Chile.

As long as Chile is not playing against Mexico I cheer for them in International tournaments such as the Copa America and the World Cup.

If memory serves me correct I believe that Mexico lost to U de Catolica in the build up to WC 1998.

I would love to see Ovalle in the 1st division. Any links where I could find out more info on the team and city?

Anyway possible to purchase a team kit over the Internet? I have searched with no successful results.

First of all a few "clarifications".....

Ovalle has never had a good soccer team....they are currently playing in either second or third division....I don't even remember them playing in first division....they probably did a long time ago.

Anyway....the reason you heard that Ovalle was making noise and they were able to upset some teams...is that in Chile they play different tournaments, and one of them used to be Copa Chile (not sure if they still play it), but it is a tournament were first and second division teams play.....SO.....to make the story short...Ovalle defeated some big shots (U. Catolica and Colo Colo...I think)....and that's why they made all that noise....but it was just that...NOISE.

    Talking about Stadiums....

    Biggest Stadium in CHILE:
ESTADIO NACIONAL (AKA the big elephant)....it's owned by the "national association of sports"....something like that....They have a huge complex that includes Tennis Courts, Swimming pools, etc, etc, etc….The complex was “remodeled” for the 1962 world cup hosted by Chile….anyway…the stadium holds approximately 70,000…..80,000 when it is FULLY loaded (What I mean by that is that people actually can sit on the stairs…REMEMBER security is “different” in South America)

Second to the National Stadium is “el Monumental” Colo Colo’s stadium…about 45,000 people.

    Third is the “Santa Laura”….U. Española’s stadium….about 35,000

Then comes “San Carlos de Apoquindo”….U. Catolica….about 25,000

The rest of the stadiums are “small” to “extra-small”….

If you want to find out more about this....just ask.
