If Colombia has no injuries--and Falcao is in form--they have as good a chance as any to beat Brazil, and even win the group. Most likely result is a tie, though.

Honestly that's what I'm thinking/fearing: whatever happens in Peru-Venezuela, neither will get enough from the other games to avoid being the worst 3rd-place team.

So Peru (who finally got around to signing Ricardo Gareca as coach) and Venezuela's playing a friendly on March 27. You think Sanvicente's job is on the line if Venezuela blow it again?

Haha you all remember Colombia is historically awful against both Venzeulea and Brazil!!

I wouldn't be shocked with 2 ties and we beat Peru.

Also rather Colombia starts off slow then running out of gas in the knockout rounds.

Will be interesting tho Colombia is much stronger in defense now then at the WC and we have Falcao back but what form he will be in and how the young new defenders we are using handle the pressure is the big question.

Think as long as we avoid Chile and Brazil in the knockout rounds we can potentially win. We are very very bad when it comes to these two teams. Tho a Colombia V Brazil knockout game will be very violent.

Despite Dunga's "success" thus far, I'm not confident whatsoever. I'm just pleased that he is at least utilizing some players that didn't get much of a chance under Felipao -- Coutinho, Firmino, etc.

On paper Peru and Venezuela are obviously the weaker of the sides. Although Peru usually overachieves at Copa America's, since 2001 I think we have always have made the second round at least. So maybe a combination of a non-humiliating score and a draw against Brazil and Colombia with a victory over Venezuela (which wouldn't be easy) would put us through as a best third place. Even two defeats to Brazil and Colombia and a win over Venezuela could also theoretically put us in given other scores.

All in all I am not to optimistic though.

Half of Colombia is injured or on no form. Pekerman called up the same players he always does regardless of form or fitness.

I don't really like our chances. Tho Hope we have el Tigre back!! At Man U he was only at 10% of his power level!!!

As it pertains to the group stages, we should be one of the top 2 out of the group. The one thing Colombia has maintained along the many years with Pekerman is a deep bench with few changes for moments such as these. It's why the WC was such a success for Colombia because we were missing our goleador in Falcao but still had many other players step up to make a difference. In fact, with the exception of Abel Aguilar and our 'new defensive' look I actually like our 'likely starting 11". This is a team with now WC experience, some Copa America experience and while some have gone down in club form due to injury(Zuniga, Zapata), others have developed even better post WC (Murillo,Bacca, Sanchez,Ospina)

    -------Ospina
    Zuniga--Zapata--Murillo--Arias
    -----Edwin V ------Sanchez
    James ------------------------Cuadrado
    ---Falcao ----Bacca

That's a very good starting 11 and on bench we have:
    Jackson (ST)
    Teo (ST)
    Muriel (ST)
    Ibarbo (ST)
    Armero (DF)
    Franco (DF)
    Valdes (DF)
    Andrade (DF)
    Cardona (MF)
    Mejia (MF)
    Bonilla (GK)
    Vargas (GK)

...surely enough to make it past group stage.

In some ways it is potentially a better team than World Cup 2014 because you have the Spiritual leader in Falcao who is hungry to show the world he is back. You have a healthy Bacca who's dominating Spain and the Europa League. You have more pace in the back line without a Slow Yepes (although he did have a heart of a lion and provided leadership), You have a kid like Muriel who can provide offensive explosion and spark we lacked off the bench in Brazil.

However, Colombia now have a target on their backs, some key injuries to key players in key positions, and none of these teams are afraid of us in this Group.

So it will be difficult to score as many goals as we did in 2014 but I think we will be okay. Pekerman know's what he is doing.

    You missed a key element.
James is our leader in the midfield and next to Falcao the leader in our NT, with a great world cup on his belt and the Real Madrid experience this kid is more matured now.
However Cuadrado is a big question, he looked fine in the last friendly, but we have to wait and see, same goes for Armero, which havent got much playing time at club lvl.
On the positive side we recovered Edwin Valencia a key player in the mid that was missed last world cup

Bacca and Jackson great players barely used by Pekerman, seems like are going to have more min this Copa America, Teo form seems about right

Those are key elements that can go either way. I hope it all goes positively but we have to wait and see.

precisamente de eso me da mas miedo- el unico miedo o duda
que piensen que si falcao esta EN LA mala, el equipo sufre, tiene que haber variantes y no solo james o falcao deben cargar al equipo
I hope to see a great cup from Jack Mart and jeison murillo o arias in their own flanks.
