With the Copa Libertadores semifinal second leg tied 1-1 and Gremio advancing, Cunha awarded a penalty to River Plate for handball in the 87th after consulting VR. It also happened to be the second cautionable offence for the player, who manhandled Cunha after seeing the yellow. Ugly scenes ensued. The penalty was taken in the 95th minute, and River Plate scored to advance on away goals after 14:13 minutes of stoppage time.

On the penalty, the distance was certainly very close. Was it the correct decision?

He stuck his hand out to block a shot.
    Easy call.
Hopefully, he is banned multiple games for his treatment of the official.

Interesting, Cunha is handed the second leg of the Final. The referee of the first leg, Roberto Tobar, also had a semi-final. So the last 6 matches being done by 4 referees.
