I know this is a soccer forum, but a true Portuguese icon would be Amalia Rodrigues.

    Got to love those Fados.;)

    God bless Metallica ;)
Obviously nowadays the greatest icon is Eusébio, but names like Amália, king Afonso Henriques, Henry the Navigator, Camões and others also makes us proud but in a different perspective.

Obviously you are one of the lost children:D

In addition I would not brag about listening to "Ghetto" music. I don't think I would even call it music, but that is a discussion for a different forum.

But to each his own, that is one of the great things about music.

As far as sports are concerned, it's got to be Eusebio. Nobody even comes close to the Black Panther. As a general, King Henriques would have to be it, he did give us our country afterall.

    ME!

BTW calling it "Ghetto music" is ignorant as hell. It's hip hop, I grew up with it and hate the mainstream garbage thats cluttering the air waves. Talib Kweli, Kanye, Ras Kass that's lyricism therefore music and if I'm lost I don't want to be found.

Amelia got to be the Portuguese cultural Icon.
A Pantera Negra the Portuguese Sport Icon.

As far as Lyricism man you have got to listen to the words in Amelias Songs.
She is the only Musician to transcend six decades of popular music. First recording in the early 1940's last recording in the 1990. no other musician has done that.

It's about 50-50 here in T-O with the under 30 crowd. Most who do like it though, just like tupac and eminem and say everything else is garbage.
