Queens of the Stone Age - Feel Good Hit Of The Summer.

Lyrics: Nicotine, Vallium, Vichoden (sp?), Marijuana, extasy and alcohol (repeat like 12 times)

    C-c-c-c-cocaine! (x3)

Thats basicly the whole song. It repeats like that for a while. It sounds all acid-trippyful and touches the soul in a drug- enduced fasion. :D.

    30min Later, I Was a Millionaire.

it always shocks me when someone outside of the state of Texas has heard of the Rev & Jimbo, the self confessed, gun-toting, red-neck, voted most popular by hand-gun magazine.

every show is different & great, i've prob seen them about 10-15times or so. Brian Seltzer(sp?), formerly of the Stray Cats, is good & so are a few other speed-billy swing bands, but when the Rev sings "Martini Time" and goes into "Bales of CC falling from the clouds like rain." and all the kids do the twist 3 times the normal speed, you're in for a great show.

In the interest of full disclosure, I lived in Austin from '89-'94 and that's where I was indoctrinated in the church of Jim Heath. I got to see them many, many times at places like The Black Cat, The Cannibal Club, Liberty Lunch, and even outdoors south of Austin with, of all people, Blind Melon [!], and Red Red Meat.

I prefer Taz Bentley to Scott Churilla.

    last word on the Rev

Patrick "Taz" Bentley did retire and was placed seamlessly, IMHO, by Scott "Chernobyl" Churilla but I never noticed the difference on wax; partly because that was b4 my college days and never saw them live until ’95 I think. He’s playing w/ Todd from the Toadies in a new band called the Burden Brothers, who I’ve yet to see but I assure you sound great on the air.

Anyway, back to the thread topic………….
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned: Alice-n-Chains’ Godsmack

I thought Taz was still playing in Tenderloin. Pretty good band.

    Re: Oldies

McCartney has said recently that it was about LSD, mentioned a couple of other Beatles tunes that were also about drugs. I can't find a link. I will eventually.

"Dr. Robert" by the Beatles. Dr. Robert was supposedly the guy that hooked them up with their stuff.

Well, well, well, you're feeling fine
well, well, well, he'll make you...

I've also heard about drug references about "With a Little Help From My Friends"

As for songs created by drugs, "Tomorrow Never Knows".

    The Ramones:

    "I Wanna Be Sedated"
    "53rd & 3rd"

    and the best drug song,

    "Chinese Rock"

Somebody calls me on the phone
Say hey - hey is Arty home
    You wanna take a walk
    You wanna go cop
You wanna go get some Chinese rock

I'm livin' on a Chinese rock
All my best things are in hock
I'm livin' on a Chinese rock
Everything is in the pawn shop

The plaster fallin' off the wall
My girlfriend cryin' in the shower stall
    It's a hot as a bitch
    I should've been rich
But I'm just diggin' a Chinese ditch

Though I think Dee Dee wrote (or co-wrote) it, Chinese Rock was a Heartbreakers song first, no?

That was my impression when I listed it a couple of pages ago. On the other hand, all those guys hung out together; half of them were junkies. I haven't heard enough Heartbreakers or Johnny Thunders songs to have any idea if it's characteristic of them, but it doesn't really sound like a Ramones song.
