it's frightening that this article even needed to be written. If Harrison doesn't have grass... i just don't know.
It was essential to write this piece. The histerical speculations over the abominable field turf -- the threats to never venture into the stadium -- the assertions that the turf only proves that MLS is a joke league -- the hew-and-cry that field turf might even enter the minds of those responsible for building our joint -- would have crashed the BS servers. Now we can chill: grass it is. Let's find something else to bitch about.
prob·a·bly adv. : Most likely; presumably. con·tem·plate ( P ) v. con·tem·plat·ed, con·tem·plat·ing, con·tem·plates v. tr. : To consider carefully and at length; meditate on or ponder: contemplated the problem from all sides; contemplated the mystery of God. To have in mind as an intention or possibility: contemplate marriage; forced by the accident to contemplate retirement. why not more definitive about something so important? they've been contemplating a stadium that was probably going to be built since 1996.
Come on...why should you be certain that there will be grass. I wouldn't be suprised if they have astro turf.
My first thought was I can't believe this is even an issue. But I bet Nick, being the genius that he is, threw this tidbit out there to remind us that we are getting a stadium and to hide the fact that it will probably be a 2008 opening.
My memory's a bit fuzzy, but I seem to recall - I think at the date of the announcement this past summer - someone saying it would be the best natural grass pitch in North America. And I thought that would be an interesting challenge, what with our weather. This is just a weird announcement. But yes, it looks like two more seasons at the Swamp. At least.
