I think we're far enough from the days of Reagan firing PATCO strikers being significant to play a role. Biden marching with UAW people was a big rebuke to Reagan. It should be said that Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda raised wages after the recent UAW strike. And apparently, UAW would like to get Tesla to unionize, which I hope happens, just because I can see Musk going on a bender somewhere about it. If anything, graduating in one of the worst recessions of my life, then dealing with the slow recovery*, along with 40 years of Republican friendliness and the accumulation of GOP enforced ideas that I think made people just say enough.
The US House of Representatives has passed a short-term funding bill in a bid to avert a government shutdown that looms on Friday, despite a major Republican revolt. The measure, proposed by new House Speaker Mike Johnson in his first major test, was approved by 336 votes to 95. It keeps federal agencies open at current spending until mid-January. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67422336
I agree that Gaetz is right. But that Gaetz is, who loathes McCarthy, who is bringing up the complaint. Not the guy who got assaulted.
Absolutely after God knows how many years of Republicans and corporate pacs telling people unions are bad and you don't need them, the income disparity js becoming too much. Unfortunately some will still vote for Rick Scott and Tom Cotton and the like to fight for them cause of the Gheys and The Blacks
Essentially the same thing that got McCarthy ousted. That time, 1 Democrat voted no. This time, 2 did. That time, 90 Republicans voted no. This time, it was 93. Needing a 2/3 vote both times due to the procedure used, Republicans failed to provide 2/3 of their own caucus and Democrats had to bail them out each time. When are voters going to wake up to Republican fecklessness? They have no interest in governing --- only ruling.
It’s not a LLC, but a bad KLC!!! James Comer: “I don’t have an LLC.”Yeah because it got shut down in 2021 and is in bad standing with the state. pic.twitter.com/VN2ZeR2fq1— Roger Sollenberger (@SollenbergerRC) November 15, 2023
Not even that. One of the key elements of ruling is arranging some way of paying the bills, be it confiscating the church's collection plates, killing off the Knights Templar to steal their treasure, taxing the poor until they are forced to overthrow you, or just printing money...
No love lost there..... Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) suggested to CNN that former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was lying about not elbowing Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN). Said Buck: “Kevin McCarthy and lying are like peanut butter and jelly.” He added: “He doesn’t hold any leadership position now. He is a rank-and-file Congressman like me, and it’s got to be upsetting to him. And so he took it out, in the way he took it out, and now he denies it.”
The voters are supposed to stop electing them, and replace them with more constructive individuals...
https://politicalwire.com/2023/11/15/house-republicans-fail-to-pass-rule-for-another-spending-bill/ Yes, ha ha ha! Yes!
What we need, when we get back to normal-- hopefully in Brummie's lifetime but probably not in mine-- is a permanent rule or an amendment that, after failing to produce a majority vote for their own damn shit a certain number of times in a short period, they lose the right to claim to be a majority party instead of two or more minority parties. If you can't do it, its just bragging and you lose your turn...
Here's a fun exchange. MJT was grilling the FBI Director about a picture she was holding up. Wray tells her he's not seen that picture before, then the following exchange starts: Greene: I posted them on my Twitter account Wray: I don’t spend a lot of time on Twitter Greene: I’m sure you do because the DHS organized with other offices and censored people like myself Wray: I’m not part of the DHS pic.twitter.com/DV8nzD5e52— Acyn (@Acyn) November 15, 2023
