...to Boebert... I figure if I take up vaping and grabbing the hog during a live musical, they'll make me a folk hero. https://t.co/Tx6wTbWalJ— Senator John Fetterman (@SenFettermanPA) September 19, 2023
They suck at populism: Nikki Haley just handed Biden the perfect campaign ad, attacking him for being "the most pro-union president.""When you have a president that's constantly saying 'go union, go union,' this is what you get. The unions get emboldened and they start asking for things..." pic.twitter.com/qbxFLGGKdH— MeidasTouch (@MeidasTouch) September 19, 2023
You forget, Republicans have spent the last 20 years telling their base that Unions are anti-worker that steals money from their paycheck and that it is in a workers best interest for them to negotiate individually with their employer rather than collectively. After all, why wouldn't your employer give you a huge raise based purely on your individual contributions to the company?
I don't like his sloppiness but I won't get all torqued up about it either. Probably old fashioned thinking that your status or type of job dictates how you dress. If you're doing brakes or are a PE teacher then Fetterman's attire is fine. Maybe even on the sloppy side for a PE teacher TBH
There were also a bunch of scandals of Union leaders the came out right about Ronnie time. Any institution that holds a bunch of power is likely to abuse it. The UAW definitely had perks that were completely unsustainable, such as the corporations paying a pool of people for the rest of their lives when they thought the layoffs would be a temporary measure of a few years. The pendulum needs to swing back towards the 70s now. I think popular sentiment would agree.
If the news with Amazon and Starbucks, along with the strikes is anything to go by, it's moving back. And hopefully without some of the negatives they had. But it's also a generational thing as well. My mom disliked the UAW, but her reasoning was more the harassment she faced when she worked for VW in Detroit. During the Auto Show UAW guys would show up, look over the cars and act menacing. It got to a point that people would need a police escort from the show if they worked for a foreign auto maker. And if you drove a foreign car in 80s Detroit, different story.
It's the perfect time to test your belief, as Biden openly has the striking auto workers' backs. But the pessimist in me says that all Trump needs to do is say "coal miners" and blue-collar whites will embrace him, even as Trump unlike Biden does not take the side of the auto workers. Would LOVE to be proven wrong.
Well, the house has started to interview Garland. His plan of avoiding politics by slow-rolling and not-being aggressive in taking on the treasonous former president has failed. His pre-session talking points were nice, but those most likely to seek airtime in the republican party can't or don't read. Those are some nice words. Too bad one party disagrees.
I'm not a fan of his casualness, either. But I have a lot of experience that just because one wears a suit, it does not mean they are competent.
Not quite accurate. If you ask them, most Republican voters will tell you that they believe that the Justice Department should be neutral. They will then tell you that Trump's was and Biden's is not. And there is no way on this earth that anything that Donald Trump, Joe Biden, or Merrick Garland does will ever disabuse them of that notion.
Ouch.... “If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week.” — Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), on X.
I had to google it....So it is a typical Pa slang to describe a jerk..... Fetterman doesn't miss a beat!~ lol
I remember there was a puffy, fluffy Ron Duh-Santis video where he described himself as a "JAG OFFicer" in the Navy... He was mostly right about that. Broken click and all that
