POLITICO: Scott declines to condemn Trump statement about McConnell's 'death wish'. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/02/trump-mcconnell-death-wish-rick-scott-00059921 Mitch McConnell is not Kevin McCarthy and the Senate structure doesn't allow for fire brands like they do in the house. Brooks Scott needed every bit of help to pull out his when over Nelson but he doesn't realize that he's only around because Mitch wants to stay majority leader if they can win 52 or so and spare him next go around he will get shived. But Rick Scott has gotten away with being a horrible human being for decades so he thinks he is invincible.
ALL House Democrats said YES to helping families devastated by disasters from Alaska to New Mexico to Florida to Puerto Rico.BUT 201 House Republicans — including 40 of 41 in #HurricaneIan’s deadly path — said NO.Voters, say NO to extreme Republicans and YES to Democrats! -NP— Nancy Pelosi (@TeamPelosi) October 2, 2022
Right out of SNL: Republican Tudor Dixon's campaign for governor hasn't been running TV ads this fall. So the Gratiot County Republican Party apparently came up with its own. From the county party's Facebook page: pic.twitter.com/Wjr5DHHpnk— Craig Mauger (@CraigDMauger) October 3, 2022
There needs to be an English word for something that needs to be reported but at the same time isn't newsworthy.
Republicans aren't patriots. They can pledge allegiance to the flag all they want, but their actions belie their words. Patriots don't care about only their half of the country, while ignoring the plight of the other half. That is not patriotism.
Nah, Monty Python was funny. This embarrassment is not, neither is SNL (the season premiere was absolutely cringe-worthy).
For someone who has a Bachelor of Science in Web Development, he sure creates a horribly designed web page!
Qosplaying: That guy in the middle? He’s the governor of Oklahoma cosplaying cops and robbers inside a public school last week. After the mass school shooting in Uvalde, @GovStitt said it was “not a gun problem,” and called for arming teachers. #okleg https://t.co/dg8TJjvq7Y pic.twitter.com/vGqho8uOcc— Shannon Watts (@shannonrwatts) October 3, 2022
As I have been saying as long as I have been posting here, the fundamental question in today's America is: is the USA an idea to be preserved and practiced, or is it a geography to be defended? It is my impression that in my childhood we had, if not a consensus, at least a supermajority for the first; but it has leaked away as people lost track of what is truly important here...
The greatest irony is that the GOP's best candidate, James Craig was deemed ineligible because of invalid signatures. As for Gratiot County, a quick Google search shows it's a population of 40k. That's smaller than a crap ton of cities here.
I think the Right largely defines the USA as a tribe. Frankly, thinking of the USA as a land area under the authority and protection of the Constitution would be a step up from where the Right is today.
I will have two fillings. (I'm old.) I'm pretty much of a fundamentalist on this question. I think my zealousness is what gets me in trouble in some of the threads here. I don't deny how often America has fallen short, or is still falling short. But the goal is the best the world has come up with so far, and I will call out giving up moving toward that goal because of past failures.
I didn't hear that in my head as Gram (Grandmaw), I heard it as Graham and thought who the ******** is named that
