I would be surprised to see anything come from this, but I personally think it would be great for him. Granted with Standard he will play in the Champions League, but even if he performs well I don't see him going to a top 20 club in the world. I think he needs to go to a middle of the table EPL or German club and prove his worth, then he can transfer to a large club.

Would be a shame if Gooch took Boca's starting spot with Fulham.

Why no question mark in the thread title?

Would be a joke if he did when it so clearly should be Knight, but Coleman loves Knight despite him costing them a goal about every game.

It's for sensationalization purposes not to put the question mark in the thread.

Who knows? But looking at Fulham's squad this season (with the additions of Bullard, Queudrue, etc.), if they add Gooch, I could see them challenging for an ECL spot.

And shouldn't anything that uses "The Sun" as a source have a question mark? ;)

That looks sucky to you? Convince Malbranque to stay and it would be awesome.

Why yes it does look quite "sucky" although they may give DC United a run for the Supporters Shield.

Fulham would have been a lot higher in the table last season if their away form hadnt been so terrible . They are easily a top half EPL team IMO . Recent results havent been going their way .

I think it would be great to see Gooch to Fulham . He'd be playing with some of the worlds best week in and week out , not just the occassional CL game ( Stadard wont be in for very long ) . At Fulham he will have a very good opprotunity to start every week and get valuable experience against some of the best . If he plays well he will definitely catch the eye of some of the bigger clubs around the world...

    Re: Gooch to Fulham

Why is everyone so down on Fulham? They've made some great signings this year and if Gooch is next, they can easily challenge for a UEFA Cup spot or even and ECL spot with a little luck.

He is atrocious, if he continues to start next season then I take back everything positive I've said about Fulham. Coleman's biggest issue is continueing to stick by Knight no matter how many games he costs them.

Fulham has a decent starting 11 when everyone's healthy but their bench is poor, kind of a "Spahn and Sain" situation.

Good for Gooch. This will be a big step up in league for him if goes to the EPL.

Let's be realistic here. He's not European. He's not from a country with a serious soccer pedigree. He didn't have a dazzling WC. He's coming from a 2nd tier Euro league.

    6 more reasons.

    Chelsea
    Man Utd
    Arsenal
    Liverpool
    Tottenham
    Everton

Fulham won't finish above any of those sides

The Rumour Mill at the Guardian had an interesting jab at a possible Gooch transfer to Fulham.
