Tick tick tick tick. Time continues to run down on United without adding one player of import that is actually ready to play right now. Until someone has a signature on the dotted line, I'll believe that the team is headed for an early season disaster. No Ruy now? Good grief.

    Solid news.

I had figured that Ruy was going to be one of the 1-2 other South Americans. Now it appears in addition to Emilio, there could still be two others that we don't know about yet.

In the same vein of our European friends in the Beckham saga...screw Ruy, we don't want him, he's washed up anyways.

I wonder if they re-open negotiations with Donnet. I still think he could be a good player for us.

Wow that blows its like just when we think we've taken a step foward we take another back. So Ruy gone as well as Donnet (likely), and we MAY have gotten Luciano, I hope KP and TS have other options available hopefully were not left in the dark for too long.

In this morning's Post it looked like it was definite that he wasn't coming back.

Another thing, but why isn't camp starting a couple of weeks early this year, due to the CCC? This team is really going to sit around until February before showing up for camp? Didn't they start two weeks earlier in 2005, or was that the Galaxy who started 2 weeks early last year?

He's definitely got the technical skills, but he really was pricey for an outside player in MLS. Obviously for him to come back I don't think DC would pay him $200,000 and you've got to wonder if he is willing to take much less than that.

Just told my daughter that "Big-headed Roy" is not coming to DCU. She said, "OK, United should be looking for 'normal headed' guys anyway."

I think my 14 year old daughter's comment above is her way of saying the same thing. Now, I'll say in my best adult voice, "Screw the bastard if he doesn't want to come, we don't need him!"

Seriously though I mean if DC had their eyes on "2 or 3" SA why haven't they just completed these moves already? Why wait till the last minute? I'm just hoping for a good winger, and possibly an AM.

As crazy as this sounds, I think there's a cycle to announcements coming out of MLS. First the sale, then Beckham, then maybe Davids, then another signing, sponsor deals...etc.

It helps keep MLS current and on the front page.

Or maybe I'm delusional, who the fck knows?

I'll read the rumors like the rest of ya, but until these guys sign a contract, I ain't counting them in or out.

I was pretty pleased by our draft performance, hopefully the oh so nervewracking game of signing international talent will go our way too.

I think I'll follow Chico's lead and have a few drinks, it can't hurt at this point.
