Busio and Okereke are on for Vacca and Kiyine. From 4-3-2-1 to 4-3-1-2, with Aramu in the hole behind Forte and Okereke, as we chase a second equalizer.55’ | Venezia 1-2 Lazio#VeneziaLazio— Venezia FC (@VeneziaFC_EN) December 22, 2021
Man, that ball loss at the beginning...he just has to be more aware. Seems to happen once or so a game and always seems a little blind-sided by it (too slow). Needs to eliminate from game. Good thing is only 19 1/2 (stifling a big laugh!) But as usual, a lot of good stuff, heady play, very good timing on passes, a bit of trickery and almost surprisingly tough 1v1 defender
Those plays remind me of young Weston at schalke. Just the component of being surprised occasionally when there is pressure from behind and then wham.
What a revelation. Serie A is utterly unforgiving of bad play from his position. He’s proving it in maybe the hardest league in the world for a defensive Mid. Cannot be more impressed. He and Scally are YAs of the year for fall 2021.

In a world where we ignore Tanner Tessmann's prospects, a Busio-Cuisance-Ampadu midfield could be pretty interesting as a young, talented group. Cuisance goes straight into the starting lineup here, and I guess this is Tessmann's red card suspension game.
The game is probably not happening. Several Salernitana players tested positive for Covid, so the local health authorities are keeping them from competing. Venezia did warm up in the stadium and Serie A has not officially canceled the game, so it will probably be a situation like just happened with Atalanta-Torino, where they wait around for 45 minutes until the referee can officially abandon the game. Technically this should lead to a 3-0 win for Venezia, but I assume that all of the teams that have had this situation will appeal for a replay. This has happened a few times in Italy so far (not only today), and is generally a result of local authorities not having their sh*& enough together to coordinate with each other, and the FIGC having their own standards that don't necessarily jive with the many local governments. Very Italian.
There’s so so much at stake for not only these two teams but also all the other teams jocking for position in the table that they cannot let games be decided by forfeit like this. Games need to proceed and if absolutely necessary postponed to a later date. There’s usually more dates available in the Spring too with fewer and fewer teams involved in knock out competitions.
I agree. But it's up to the FIGC. I'm 100% sure that both teams in all of these situations will heavily push for a replay since ultimately even the winner doesn't want to win that way.
Not sure Venezia will push for a replay, but they may not fight against one. Three points, in a relegation six-pointer, are pretty darn valuable. Having so much of the season decided on forfeits feels way to bush league for Serie A to let stand.
It really is wild how many organizations just decided to try to wait out Covid without any kind of real plan, rather than coming up with reasonable rules. Not just footie, or even just sports, but it's wild how incapable we all are of adjusting to a new set of "facts on the ground..."
The issue in Italy is even more complicated, and kind of a unique clusterf&#k of their own making. A big part of the problem is that the local authorities - specifically the health ministries - were somehow given a lot more powers over local restrictions at the beginning of this whole Corona thing. And of course they are not coordinating with each other very well. It's like a bunch of chicken running around with their heads cut off, except those headless chickens are also making public health decisions. This has created a lot of friction and outright confusion for a lot of situations involving movement between regions & provinces during "bad" times like right now (I've dealt with this personally during the winter 20/21 and 21/22 Covid surges). Whatever decisions are enforced by the local authorities are separate from decisions & standards by FIGC regarding postponement of Serie A games, so this leads to a situation where one team is forbidden by their local health authorities from showing up (even in their own stadium, as was the case with Salernitana today), the game is officially "abandoned" after 45 minutes, and the initial decision would be to award a 3-0 win to the team that showed up. This already happened to a Juve-Napoli game last season that was supposed to be played on Nov. 4, 2020. In the end, there was a lot fighting & appealing by Napoli, but FIGC got smacked down the the Italian sports court, and the game was played in April, 2021. My guess is that FIGC won't fight it so hard, or at all, this time since (a) it's multiple games and (b) they already had their decision overturned before. AFAIK, Juve didn't come out way or another on that particular decision appeal in 2020, however Andrea Agnelli is a world-class douchebag so I wouldn't take anything they do or don't do as representative of how other teams' managements will act in this situation. No. Fortunately most football players, coaches and team representatives are more sporting than bigsoccer posters. In the end, I'll admit it's probably somewhere in between. If Venezia, Atalanta and whoever else is in this situation (it's far from over...the fun is only beginning ) end up with a 3-0 forfeited victory being the final decision, they will probably shrug their shoulders and say "OK, that's too bad, but grazie". If the losing team wins an appeal and they have to play, they will probably shrug their shoulders and say "OK" without any complaints. Also take into account the individual situations, particularly concerning €€. Atalanta (or other home teams) will have a financial motivation to actually play the game since a March/April make-up date might be allowed a stadium of paying spectators (right now they are allowed 50% capacity). Venezia, not so much since it's an away game and they would have considerable expenses to get the team to Salerno again. So again, probably it's somewhere in the middle. (sorry all for the overly long post )
