Yeah--Gregoriak could you find stats on all the stupid quotes and actions on said players :D

This thread could be strictly "personality" as opposed to professional. The players we listed so far range from pretty good to great in terms of playing. I wouldn't mind an Effenberg on my team, but someone please put a piece of tape of his mouth when he gets off the pitch

Yes, exactly. He was one of the main reasons Bayern won the CL, but I wouldn't want to bump into him in a pub or a club.

But then again, behaviour towards journalists (or as he says, Freunde der Sonne) can be misleading as well, maybe Effe is a nice guy when you meet him in person... I would be surprised though.

Yes we regard family values very highly in Germany.

Actually the press also made a bit of a meal of it. Kahn's behaviour was obviously disgraceful, with his wife being pregant, but Effenberg is not the only culprit in the Strunz family drama. I also pity these guys for not having a private life (not very often though, I usually envy them for being so much better at football).

I hear ya--and understand that the press are sometimes (maybe most of the time) just a pack of wolves. Did you read Effe's autobiography? Is it interesting or just plain bad?

No, never got round to reading it. The picture on the cover scares me.
