    So a three-CB backline?

Boateng? He is still a good Player overall, I thought he played very well yesterday

Maybe Boateng at fullback or Hummels at DM.

Impossible to bench Hummels with his form n performance

I think it went rather unnoticed that Boateng conquered the ball and gave the assist to Robben's 1:0. I think he even played better after he took over the right outside position from Hoijberg.

And I know Lasogga has been injured until last week(2months injury)

But he is still a specialist in certain area of the game. Since he's back, Lasogga has scored 2 goals in 3 games

Our team can really benefit from having such a targetman, especially in set-piece situation.

Slomka said set-piece is an area where he thinks is extremely important, I think our NT should be more flexible in such area as well. False 9s won't help

Starting to realize why Hrubesch likes Philipp Hofmann so much in U21

Harsh on Boateng. He is class but I think people overstated his case because he was in great form while Hummels wasn't. In the end, Hummels is a class above all CB's in Germany and on form matched by maybe only Ramos, Pique, and Thiago Silva. He needs to be started but it remains to be seen if Boateng is proper partner. I'm disappointed with Boateng's intelligence, or lack of in many times. Contrast to Hummels' he needs to became more mature for someone of his status and experience.

And when on form he's superb. Which was my point. Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

I hope there is a way Hummels, Mertesacker and Boateng can play in starting lineup. Three of them have different strengths and I wonder if Loew will play a 4-6-1 like pep did the other day

Pique's problem is mental. It may have something to do with his hookup with Shakira. Surely the news of his relationship coincided well with his dropoff. But he's not the same CB he once was, clearly.

But when Boateng is on form, I'd argue that he is world class. Didn't see many if any brainfarts on his part this season, until Bayern secured the Bundesliga. That's when he fell off somewhat.

It's a combination of injuries. He hasn't been very lucky with those at all. Also the change at Barca is affecting defenders more than anyone else.

Anyway, I have no doubt he will get back to form soon. He's too good to just fade out.

I agree. Boateng looked great for most of the season only to let his biggest weakness get to him. It's just a sign that he still has to learn, not anything against his ability.

Too late in the game for that sort of seismic shift in formation and I don't have the slightest faith in Löw to implement it properly even on the most rudimentary of scales.

Had nothing to do with securing the BL. In the BL there was no pressure at all on the central defenders for most of the season. The opponents rarely dared to enter Bayern's half and most of the time they didn't even have the ball anyway. It was easy to look good under those conditions.

Bayern never got that kind of respect from opponents in the CL and Boateng was pretty bad in the CL throughout the entire season. Terrible games against Man City at home, Arsenal away, Man United home and away, Madrid home and away. His average Kicker rating for this CL season is 4,0 and that is completely justified.

Never to late, Loew has changed his tactic before in a tournament from a 442 to a 4231
I quite like the idea of a 361 Pep did this in DFB Pokal to stabilise the defence, maybe just what we need.

The 3-4-3 worked well because of Martinez.. Anyone else there and it could've been worse IMO.

Who would play that role for Germany?

    Boateng - Hummels - merte
    KG Kroos lahm ?
    Muller gotze Reus

Who would be a safer cb bet? Howedes?

What do u think of the 3-4-3 potential with Hummels as libero?

He was born for this kind of role

I don't think I would want Schweini anywhere near the WC this summer. Unfortunately, we will probably see the Euro 2012 Bastian over the WC 2010 Bastian this time around.

How does Schweini work in that role?
