Not sure what league is great the Spanish la Liga lost Ronaldo and messi while still great, seems to have lost a little with age. EPL doesn't have the stars. German bundesliga is pretty good and even.
Yes absolutely. If you can counterattack the opposite back line will sit deep which allows more room for possession. Having both is ideal.
Yep, granted we had a man up on them but an early New England game that we won 4-0 in 2017 sticks out to me. I believe we had close to 70% possession. Just dominating them and always on the attack or looking for holes. As for the quote, it’s in the Athletic Q&A. I found it in the summary here : https://www.reddit.com/r/chicagofire/comments/edejgk/comment/fbhg3l4
I prefer that the Fire score at least one goal more than their opponents every game. Position without shooting is a waste. Shooting without scoring is Katai with me.
There have been studies on this and the outcome for leagues that "are not the big 5" or UEFA champions league counter the possession "wins" arguement. Possession , passing in opposing third, and shots are not consistent measures of success in second tier "top flight" leagues. What is a consistent measure is shots on goal . I don't have any of the studies. And not every league fit nicely , some saw dramatic changes by season. I do know at one time MLS was definitely a league that you could measure success by Shots on goal and not possession . I would guess it still is , but haven't seen anything on that in years.
BTW , I'm assuming your point was Shots on goal. I was agreeing with you not countering or correcting.
You're directly limiting your opponents shots on goal by not letting them have the ball. You need the right pressing tactics though to make sure you break up any counter attacks before they get started. That's coaching.
Let the man enjoy his retirement in peace. Sweet pension he is getting and he clearly is enjoying the attractions the retirement community he chose has.
Meanwhile the guy who is not ready to retire just yet ... reads Benzema like a book, beats Ramos to the punch and and unleashes Tello with a nice smooth pass with 10 minutes to go to beat Real Madrid. Back to the top you go. It’s time to start seeing some results in 2022, or it’s time for George to hit the bricks.
Hit the bricks. His leash is as short as possible. One bad move this off season and he should be gone.
