In an exclusive @TeleFootball column, #Wolves chairman Jeff Shi outlines why VAR should be scrapped & his fears for football🛑 Fans “increasingly disengaged”🛑 “Irrevocable” damage if VAR stays🛑 Remove VAR to preserve the “integrity & magic” of the PL https://t.co/14QF8yxx2I— John Percy (@JPercyTelegraph) May 16, 2024 🚨 The Premier League to support swift introduction of in-stadium VAR communication amid pressure to raise refereeing standards. Some clubs also believe referees pool should widen to allow Europe’s elite officials to take charge of matches. Question is - what do we want from how football is refereed? More correct decisions, even if that impacts on matchday experience? Or accept more mistakes but fewer game interruptions?https://t.co/3gpvBOg6Vl— Rob Dorsett (@RobDorsettSky) May 16, 2024 #wwfc motivation for wanting VAR scrapped is NOT because of poor decisions they feel they’ve had this season. It’s about the spectacle and matchday experience. Wolves’ main ref grievances wouldn’t have gone in their favour this season if VAR didn’t exist - same for #nffc.— Rob Dorsett (@RobDorsettSky) May 16, 2024 #wwfc proposal to scrap VAR looks doomed to fail. From numerous sources, it looks v unlikely that 13 other PL clubs will vote in favour. #nffc keeping their powder dry. Majority of clubs seem to want change and VAR improvements, but think it would be a backward step to scrap it.— Rob Dorsett (@RobDorsettSky) May 16, 2024

This Leverkusen team has had one of the most absurd seasons. Maybe it is just me but every time I watch them they look like they are struggling at times and then they get gifted a goal from a bizarre opposition error. Or the opposition get a red card. Or the ball ricochets numerous time to become perfectly placed in the box for them to get a finish. Qarabag were killing them on counters in their knockout game. Very interested to see how it goes next season.
Yeah, it's been a freak season. A lot of games rescued with late goals too. They're actually 2nd in the BL behind Bayern in I think all underlying metrics.
It's been like that nearly every game I've seen of theirs. For that reason I backed Roma to beat them in the Europa League without having actually seen much of Roma beyond the first leg of their Brighton tie but I think Atalanta could really have something for them in that final.

Don't be so dramatic! There’s absolutely no evidence to support your claim considering Poch plays quite a lot of English players plus there’s no guarantee this Brazilian will adapt, plenty don’t.
I am not sure Poch will be there in a years time. Exclusive: Kieran McKenna to be high on Chelsea’s shortlist if Pochettino leaves. Brighton also targeting Ipswich manager as replacement for De Zerbi. https://t.co/pbfXYgbk1C— Jacob Steinberg (@JacobSteinberg) May 18, 2024

Apparently Bayern Munich are in talks with Vincent Kompany about being their new boss. I mean I loved Vinny from his city days but he’s just been relegated and now gets linked to a big job like Bayern. Seems a tad odd but mind you Bayern are just desperate for anyone I guess.
In the same way some players' styles are more conducive to success at a higher level than a lower one I think the same can be true of managers. It's nowhere near certain to work but I can see the thought process behind Kompany.
They'll be looking at how his Burnley side completely dominated possession in The Championship and won the league easily when they had one of the best squads.
Yeah, and it was a pretty weak year too. I do think Kompany's got something about him though even if he's still learning his trade. Their squad building this year was very naive. Just a PL equivalent of what Sunderland have done.
He was very stubbon as manager and wouldn’t change his style. Don’t think Bayern fans will appreciate that if they not winning.
Bit odd though considering how common it is for a relegated side to win the league with ease usually playing decent football. Not really any different to Maresca this season, and Marco Silva's Fulham. I mean in recent history McKenna this season and Farke's Norwich side were much more impressive achievements than Kompany's Burnley. Might be ok for Bundesliga I guess, given Leverkusen will be ripped apart and things should return to normal, but a big risk from a CL perspective.
Personally I think his name also helps, I mean if Kompany was called Rob Edwards and did the exact same thing, no way Bayern would be looking at him.
