for those already getting withdrawal symptoms / planning vacations ...

    July 12
    LFC vs MU in Bangkok
    ==============================================================
    July 15
LFC vs Crystal Palace in Singapore
    ==============================================================
The Premier League season will begin on the weekend of August 6/7. This is one week earlier than the 2021/22 campaign started, and means teams will have an 11-week break between the seasons.
However, the Premier League will take a break in the middle of the season to accommodate a winter World Cup for the first time.

As a result, match-round 16 will be the final one played - over the weekend of November 12/13 - before players called up by their countries for the tournament travel to Qatar.

The Premier League will then resume on Boxing Day following the conclusion of the World Cup, with the final taking place on December 18. The Premier League will conclude on May 28, with all the matches kicking off at the same time, as is standard on the final day.

Hopefully we give our players the entire month of June off to recover and rejuvenate.
When was the last time any of our players had a full 3 or 4 week break?

LFC might give them time off, but nations wont. There are WC qualifiers, UEFA nation’s league games, city Festival of Lights games, etc. if they get 2 weeks off they will be lucky.

What a load of greedy bollix ---

They short terms wallet-fatteners don't get the inevitable logic that by wearing out the players they will eventually devalue the level of play, and their own product.....

Didn't realize the Nations League was happening.
Thought the european and south american teams had already gotten their WC qualifiers done.
At least MOST of our players will get a nice break.

the PL schedule for next season will be published June 16th. (season starts August 6/7th) 2 weeks away, basically.

some players' bodies will be pushed well into the red zone over the next 12 months, esp those involved in / going deep in the WC. and our guys have played more games than anyone this season.

thank god the 5 subs rule came in. it will certainly help, but don't know how much really.

Clubs which play less matches can probably stick close to their starters each game but for a club like Lpool which often faces a games every three days it will allow the manager can change up half of his outfield players now if he chooses to hopefully avoiding overworking the players. I think 5 subs can help significantly, Sam but the key though is having the quality of depth coming off the bench.

more players need to start talking like this ....

“For me, the Nations League is not important. Just glorified friendlies after a long and tough season. I’m not looking forward to it. In 12 months, we have three weeks of holiday. The people from the outside do not understand – but they don’t have to because it won’t change anything.” Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne tells it like it is.

They also need to start threatening strikes. Let's see how FIFA/UEFA like their new, overblown competitions when the world's best refuse to play.

Four South African fourth-tier teams have been banned for life over some remarkable match-fixing, in which Shivulani Dangerous Tigers snuck past Kotoko Happy Boys 33-1 and Matiyasi FC edged out Nsami Mighty Birds 59-1. “These people don’t have respect for football, and we cannot allow it to happen again,” Vincent Ramphago told the BBC.

The Premier League is to take further action to prevent crowd trouble next season, while enshrining the right to fairly priced tickets for away supporters.

Stewards will be asked to accompany fans on away trips and supporters who invade the pitch will be subject not just to lifetime club bans but football-wide ones as part of plans announced by the top flight. A cap on away ticket prices, meanwhile, is to be written into the Premier League rulebook, with the cost to remain at £30 until 2025.

    I find this annoying ...... maybe I'm simply too old-school .....

The possible introduction of kick-ins has been discussed at the latest meeting of football's lawmaking body.

The International Football Association Board (Ifab) held its annual general meeting in Doha on Monday.

And while the body said there were talks over kick-ins, there were no plans to trial them yet. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, head of global development for world governing body Fifa, included the idea among several new proposals last year.

"Proposals were made to test kick-ins," said Fifa president Gianni Infantino. "While we may be a bit sceptical on some of these measures... if some proposals are there to help the game, we will not know it before we look into it, so we will look into these proposals as well."

Throw-ins have been used in football since the 1860s, with the Football Association removing the kick-in option in 1863.

Speaking last year, Wenger said throw-ins and free-kicks were the "two big time-wasters at the moment".
He added: "The target is to make the game more spectacular and quicker, and maybe with throw-ins you could play with your feet, in a limit of five seconds for example. But it has to be tested and then has to be accepted by the Ifab."

Meanwhile, semi-automated video assistant referee (VAR) technology could be ready in time for the Qatar World Cup.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said a decision would be taken before the tournament begins in November, however Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the governing body's referees committee, added: "I'm confident it can go ahead."

The technology, which uses automated ball detection to enable offsides to be highlighted within seconds, will continue to be trialled.

The use of five substitutes has now been introduced into the laws of the game.

However, the trial of additional permanent concussion substitutes has been extended until August 2023 - despite calls by campaigners for temporary concussion substitutions to be introduced.

    Extremely annoying.... and ...
Anyone who has ever played indoor soccer (where you rarely cease movement) will tell these idiots that the "wasting of time" may well be a necessary slow-down mechanism that helps the body cmpete for longer stretches...

    Kick-ins...for U9's maybe...

And I watched a lot of the Aus-Peru game and wished that either or both were in US bracket. What a boring game - neither team had anything offensively.

Not in this day and age. Every pen was checked off by VAR first. Apparently, that's why he didn't go running off after the final save, because the ref told him that VAR had to check it before he could celebrate.
