Personally, I think Football Boots/Kieran Brown/other YouTubers that mostly do skill and freekick videos are the bottom of the barrel. I only watch these when I am really undecided on a certain pair as they really seem to not know what they are talking about other than the marketing info from the brand itself. The next tier for me would be Unisport, because even though they are great guys and they do a good job talking about the positives of a boot, like jayc23 said, they are trying to sell shoes at the end of the day and they either minimize any negative points or just ignore them completely. Tepy.PL is just above this only because they rarely ever review anything, but when they do, it's pretty informative. I know I said skill Youtubers are bad reviewers but I consider Freekickerz to be a pretty good review source as the reviews are brief, based on experience on feet and there's no marketing BS. I like how they consider durability on artificial grass which is obviously harder, and they also talk about pros and cons of the boots. SoccerCleats101 is almost the best for me. What he does well is going very in depth into most aspects of the boots. But, he often leaves out details about lockdown, responsiveness, and other more subtle quirks of shoes. Another small irk I have with him is that he talks a little too much about what position a boot is suited for, what category of boot it is, and small features having big impacts(ie. speed ribs). Overall, though, he is a great reviewer. For me, SR4U is the best reviewer. Obviously he is not perfect like many have said, with the clickbait and all that. But no other reviewer totally covers every aspect of the shoe and even has an outlet for you to ask any additional questions you may need answered via the comments. Sorry for the long post, I feel really strongly about this and I never had a chance to express lol
Does anyone know someone in EU/UK that can sole swap old boots, nike mercurial vapor 2s to be more specific.
Give me a proper tongue any day. Personally, I can't wait for this sock trend to disappear. Or at least cool down a bit...
Has anyone ever used FG plastic studs on a mixed SG stud pattern? I was thinking about doing this because the FG version of the boots I'm looking at has very short studs
Yup! Did this on some Legend VIs. They work good. Only problem for me was access to plastic studs I actually like. All they have here (I live in the States) are replacement studs for american football. Those work though.
Cool! Could you link me to some or recommend a brand that is good for FG? I can only find rubber studs and I don't know if those are good. I also live in the US so US based would be best for me
Those Concave's look awful in my opinion. I don't mind sock boots too much as long as they are a decent fit. But sometimes it is nice to go back to wearing some leather boots like the original Premiers to remember how nice a normal leather boot feels. I don't think I could go back to a Predator style tongue now on a boot I do like to feel the ball and considering I wore my tongue down LOW on my Predators back in he day I couldn't think of doing that now! appleCORR
It's ok, I've just ordered some Under Armour Magnetico Pro too, maybe more your style. Supposed to have the most "bare foot" sensation there is. Very eager to try them
seems like UA's done a low key removal of the zipper https://www.soccerbible.com/perform...nch-magnetico-spotlight-blue-circuit-updates/
I'm glad! haha On a personal note, I'm trying to decide whether I grab a pair of the adidas X 18.1 or Puma Future 2.1's. Anyone here have experience with either/both?
I've tried the future 2.1. I think I am one of the only people they don't work for, the v-shaped fuse on the top of the foot fives me really bad pressure on the bump-bone on my foot. I also couldn't find a lacing setup that I liked and got really bad cramps in my arch. Honestly I preferred wearing them without laces. A lot of people rave about them though, so I wouldn't recommend against them. I tried the Puma One 1 also, which I think is much better than the future
I’ve had a ‘theory’ for the past year after I started buying old new Nike boots on eBay. I would purchase Hypervenom Phantoms, Legend 6s, Vapor 9s, Maestri 3s, you name it. Their sizes were usually off. Not in a ‘different silo, different sizing’ kind of way. The same silo would actually be made different size-wise. I thought I was going crazy that a size 8US volt Tiempo Legend 6 felt like it was a 9US meanwhile when the pure platinum colorway released in 2015 I could’ve sworn a size 8.5US fit me perfectly. Three weeks ago I went to a local shop to check out a pair of Pumas (but I ended up going for Phantom VSNs anyway) and as I was fitting the VSNs I noticed that the made in Bosnia Rising Fire one fit a size bigger than the made in Vietnam Stealth Ops one in the same numeric US size. I’m not a super big fan of blackouts but I did end up purchasing those instead of the maroon ones I much prefered. I hate how a massive brand like Nike doesn’t have stricter quality control in terms of this.
really? weird that's mad! The closest i've ever felt was the Magista 1s feeling tighter in the made in Europe ones over the made in Asia ones. but not 1 full size difference sort. that's nuts. I've got the same problem with anatomical shaped soleplates too. Loved the Visaros as well as the Puma Evopower series, but the weird toe shape just kills my feet
I don't think the current Puma models have an anatomic shape. I do agree with you though, the anatomic last on football boots just sucks so much. The New Balance Visaro 1, Furon 2, and Evopower 1.3 all are boots that I thought were excellent in terms of materials and comfort but the shape of them makes it hard for me to dribble and control the ball. Rounded toe is always the way to go, and I love the shape of the newer Puma models which is rounded off but not narrow in the toe like a lot of Adidas models.
Sorry, slightly off topic and did not want to open a new topic thread. I noticed that when purchasing from PDS, they now charge VAT even if shipping to USA (or outside the EU per their site). They used to take out any VAT before but since they had issues with their website during the worldcup, things went bad including no confirmation or dispatch emails. Anyone else experience this?
ah okay thats good. yea i agree, the visaros and evopowers are boots that i would love to try but the fit just kills me lol. I've heard that puma change it cause it fits african players' feet better. eh what? last i ordered they still removed VAT. just that its not shown till the last page when making payment.
This is New Balance-related but I didn’t want to post it in that thread because I feel like this is has more exposure but at worldsoccershop dot com right now high-end Tekela 1.0 and Furon 4.0 are up for grabs for either $60 or $70 as opposed to $200+. They still have most (if not all) sizes. Just putting it out there in case anybody wanted to try those without spending an arm, like me.
They used to do that and they used to have different currency selector. When I emailed them, they send me strange response and how they need to collect taxes for goods and at the end they said, should buy from USA in the future. It seems that their support, don't even read the email and don't answer the questions.
Also, yikes. That's great for customers but reflects extremely poorly on NB Sorry for the double post
I was thinking about getting the Furon but some customer reviews said they split really fast. Anyone have any experience with them?
