Oh, so now the Palestinians are Philistines. Didn't some rock swinging Jewish kid put an end to that horseshit a long time ago?
The word Palestine has been around, not the concept of a Palestinian identity. There's a difference. "Palestine" was the name given by the Romans to the region that encompassed Judea and Israel. It was later adopted by the Arab conquerors. Nice try though.
People living in Palestine are Palestinian people.................. How hard is this concept to understand? So we have established that there has been Palestine in 1 AD Palestine in 500 AD PALESTINE IN 1000 AD Palestine in 1500 AD Palestine in 2000 AD And not as you claimed that the Palestine came to about 1920'S. And don't BS with there was no Palestine identity.............
A Palestinian identity is a concept of 21st century. Palestine is just a name given to this place in ME, so all those Arabs and Jews who lived there were called Palestinians, but what you are describing is different, but keep at it if it makes you feel better.
Let me remove religion out of this for a sec. The point is that the people who were living in Palestine in the 1900's(presently we call them Palestinians) were removed by people coming from Europe (presently we call them Israelis).
A person living in a land named Palestine (same name for more than 1000 of years) has a Palestinian identity. I would call him Palestinian if he is coming from the land of Palestine. But the Jews had to bring religion into it to occupy and conquer the lands of Palestine and make it Israel.
and people were living on that land before that, which brings us back to going back that far as pointless......
CAN WE JUST DISCUSS CURRENT EVENTS IN GAZA AS THEY HAPPEN? WE HAVE BEEN OVER THE HISTORICAL ASPECT OF THIS CONFLICT A MILLION ********ING TIMES!!! WE ALREADY KNOW WHO THINKS THE BLAME LIES WITH ISRAEL AND WHO THINKS IT LIES WITH THE PALESTINIANS!!! This is not directed to anyone specifically, just making an observation.
But they weren't the people who now label themselves as "Palestinian." The whole point of the argument that Sahbe/others are trying to make is a "first in time" claim. However, this claim doesn't hold up if one really wants to look at the history of the region.
well duh, so lets find the ancestors of the people were there 10,000 years ago and let them live there.
Actually they were and speaking of which, were the Jews of today labeling themselves Israelis before 1948???
Well everybody really came from Africa, so I say we just gather everybody up (and I mean everyone, all 6billion+), stick em in a singular location (around Kinshasa perhaps?) and then on the count of 3, everyone gets to claim their land.
Now that we have established that there were Palestinian people living in the 1900's, its time that the Palestinian people get their land back.
THIS is the core of the problem. What needs to be said is "it's time that the Palestinian people get peace." It's exactly b/c it's always been "get land back" attitude that so many Palestinians have suffered for so long. What good has come from this attitude?
