Monetarily its not a failure, its a failure based on the sole fact that the king of the previous generation (which wholeheartedly expected to remain king) is now second best. I'm pretty sure in M$ eyes its a huge failure, that's why their gameplan has changed so drastically in the last few months
The only statement on the expectations for the Xbox One from Microsoft that I have read is that Microsft want to win this generation, bascially to outsell the competitors in the article that I linked earlier. At the moment judging from Microsoft's definition then yes I would agree with you that it is a failure. Although we are less then a year into the consoles's lifespan. There is plenty of time for Microsft to reverse its course. I expect price cuts by the end of the year to stimulate growth. I think a lot of peope are just waiting for this and for 2015 to kick in because next year a lot of fantastic titles will launch.
This is neither here nor there but it just reminded me of something. For the longest time I foolishly though Microsoft was the only company who entered the video game field in hopes of being the all in one box for the living room. I remember when the original Xbox was revealed I had a negative attitude towards it because of all the talk that MS was using it as a Trojan horse to get into your living room. Of course after getting to play Halo2 mp at a friends house I didn't care why they entered the market and went out the next day and bought myself an Xbox, Live subscription, copy of FIFA, and Halo2. But after reading, Console Wars, I now know that idea of being the all in one entertainment box has been around since the SNES/Genesis/SegaCD era. Sega, Sony and 3DO all saw the video game console one day becoming the all in one entertainment box for the living room, only Nintendo has seemed to kept their focusing solely on video games. one of the many people on the internet who think being loud and angry is creative. finally getting around to watch this and saw a few new titles I didn't know about. Please price Volgaar right, please let Speedrunners have online multiplayer, and please give me SuperHot ASAP. SUPERHOT!

I do not know. I put in "Rise of the Tomb Raider Exclusive" into the Youtube search bar and his video had by far the most views on the front page. He is not subtle but he is on point with most of it.
so this Evolve won best game at E3 and now best game at Gamescom and i for the life of me can't understand why. There are a handful of games i would pick over this. For me, the winner is Bloodborne, man i love From Software
