Does anyone know what the winning prices were for any/all of the game jerseys sold during the silent auction at the KC game? I figured I would have been quickly outbid since I didn't have megabucks to lay out. Just curious.

    can't wait for saturday,

Uhhh, there's no link to the actual auction. How's the bidding supposed to happen if there's no link from DC Kicks for Kids to the live auction? Unless The Wank is running it ....

Uh could you stop whining long enough to click to the DCU home page and hit the box that says Online Auction (OK seeing that you can't, here it is http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=games&cont_id=112607 ) Criminy!

Even that is just a link to one stinkin' dirty shirt for sale, not to an auction. The UfDC site doesn't even mention the damn thing anywhere. One cannot raise money if one makes it so hard to help no one ever wants anything to do with your silly organization ;)

The total amount of money raised in the silent auction for player's jerseys was about $3700.

I don't know what the total was from previous years, but I remember hearing that in some years the staff had to bid on some players' jerseys just to make sure everyone's jersey was bought. That didn't happen this year. This year everyone's jersey was bought. I was done there in the dugout and tunnel after the game, and was able to see fans waiting for their player to come out. Yes, even Ivanov had people bidding on his jersey. I know everyone here likes to bash him, but it was pretty cool to see this young family get really excited to see him and get his autograph.

Like I said, I don't know what previous years were. You could contact Catherine Marquette (sp?) for that. But I hope we get more next year. This is a great way for the fans to show support for the players and give to the community at the same time. Of course, it would help if the team was doing really well, too.

Some I am sure about - some I am guessing

    Doug Warren - $210 (myself)
    Earnie - $460 (my brother)
    Stoich - $450
    Ivanov - $250?
    Nellie - $325
    Prideaux - $325?

I was busy watching my Warren jersey so I didn't get down the other end of the table.

Other interesting tidbits from the Team Awards Dinner:

Bobby Convey Natl team jersey - $200 (or $250)
Kasey Keller Tottenham keeper jersey - $325

Guess who won both of those? :)

JH 6: Remember that article on Goose and the jerseys he got via exchanges? He framed his and displayed a lot in his home. Have you done something similar? From what I have read here, you have one hell of an impressive collection.

In the article, it stated one US player positions himself close to a star towards the end of a game in hopes of getting his jersey. My guess is this is the same strategy JH6 uses at the end of every auction :)

I try to frame as many as I can but right now I am running out of wall space.

My framed collection includes (all game worn):
    Peyton Manning Colts jersey
    Brendan Witt Capitals jersey
    Ryan Giggs - ManU jersey
    Ben Olsen - DC jersey
    John Harkes - NE jersey
Pope - US jersey from Portugal game
    Stewart - US jersey
    Reyes - DC jersey

Most are simply framed - the Reyes I did something special with. I got a photo from the game he wore it in - had his sign it and framed the jersey with the picture and COA.

All other jerseys go into my closet until I can find space to frame them.

JH6 - GDopplarXT and I noticed that you got the Warren jersey, when they were running the winner's announcements on the scoreboard. We were not surprised... :)

    congrats...

Oh, if you had only heard the halftime ranting that involved "burning".

OK - so I was a "little" fired up at halftime. But with the crap that they called soccer I feel I had every right to threaten to buy Ivanov's jersey and burn it.

Nobody questioned your threats (to team staff....and all others within earshot) or their validity.
