Despite what most whinners in these boards claims, there are many good things about our team; like top notch facilities, and top notch fans. But I do have a problem with the team's name.

Our team's name is horrible and meaningless, and the sooner we change it the better. Do I have any suggestions? I don't know, how about FC Los Angeles, or anything besides Galaxy. I'm not in the business of branding, I'm just suggesting one. I wish that I could meet the person who came up the name Galaxy. Thank you for ********ing up our team's name and smack him right on the face.

In today's world there is no room for a prominent (when we become one) team with a name of Galaxy and it will never be. Sure I know that there is a Football team called Galaxy but there is nothing prominent about NFL Europe and Galaxy for that matter.

Kuddos to whoever rebranded Dallas. The name FC Dallas is very classy, the shield is even better because it portrays the Long Horn and the star which is indicative of the state of TX. And even the TX flag is portrayed in the team's uniform. Whoever came up with this theme should help to rebrand LA.

I know that our league is destined to stardom in the world's soccer stage and it's just a matter of time before we beat Brazil or Germany in a regular basis, well, maybe a little longer time. But I know that one day our team could be to the Americas what the RM is to Europe, or the Man United is to England but we will not get very far with a name of Galaxy.

Transplant the entire Real Madrid team to the Galaxy and then the name doesn't seem so stupid right? LA Galaxy, glitz, glamour, and Hollywood!

At first I thought, "Damn, these newbies". How wrong was I. :D

We need the name Galaxy, 'cause we're a "Galaxy of Stars" on the field, well, remove Pete and we are. ;)

The Galaxy don't need to be renamed because they're actually successful.

On a more serious note if I may, 'Galaxy' is a better name than 'Dodgers' and 'clippers'. Maybe not 'Angels' though, but they're Anaheim anyway.

That's funny the thread starter mentions wanting to emulate Real Madrid in his post, when their nickname is the Galacticos.

I think the wannabees reside in Salt Lake.

I like our name, It will only look bad if the team is bad. If the team is really good then all of a sudden the name is intimidating.

Maybe I wasn't clear in this part. When I brough up the RM was to emulate their success not their name...

The name is okay, but I really believe that if the team had been given a more soccer sounding name, it would've been more successful on the stands - HDC would've been built to hold 35K to 40K provided that the city gave the okay.

I can't think of one logical reason on how The Los Angeles Galaxy's name will somehow prevent the team from attaining worldwide success.

We have all spent the last 10 years proudly supporting this club thru ups and downs, the roots are starting to grow deeper and deeper, and the fanbase is steadily increasing, how can you possibly want to sacrifice all that in the sake of a name?

We are unique, we are champions, we are the green and gold, we are THE LOS ANGELES GALAXY!

This reminds me of people being serious when they said the galaxy sucked in 03 because they had ugly jerseys...

What is in a name? A rose by any name would smell as sweet.

Dammit as long as we are winning we could have the tackiest name ammaginable like say the Frogs or whatever, ok maybe not that bad but you get the point. As long as we are winning and whatnot it doesnt matter what we are called. All teams everywhere have strange nicknames, in fact we already did this in a thread. What makes say Young boys club worse than Galaxy? I like our name and have liked it for 10 years. Long live the great Galaxy. ******** the rest. If you dont like our old jerseys hey all the old jerseys were ugly. I like our jerseys...halll moniter power!
