https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...ica-set-for-sofi-stadium-summer-double-header I don't think this match will have many Galaxy/LAFC fans, though it will be a bit of a test of the supposedly ultra loyal LEVAS base. However I expect support for the MLS teams from the opposing Chivas and America fans, as we experienced at the classico doubleheader at the Coliseum.
so a corporate money grab with a bunch of drunk idiots at the game puffing out their chest repping their team, sounds like a swell time
Really tempted to buy a bunch of tickets with my STH discount then sell them at a big mark-up to Chivas fans....
I think we'll find that our STH discount is underwhelming but I guess we'll see. I'm not terribly excited for this. It's always mixed emotions for me. Part of me wants us to do well and show how we compare but a much larger part of me just doesn't want anyone to get hurt and wants to only focus on the games that matter. Not sure I'll be attending this. Four fanbases that pretty much hate each other. They should bring in the national guard.
This is a bad idea for us and LAFC. I thought we were past these mid-season money grabs. Chicharito will have to play a half at least - I'm sure that's part of the contract. We're going to fly home Sunday from Dallas, play Wed and then fly right back out to Kansas City for the weekend? Thanks Chris klein.
BTW this is happening to replace Leagues Cup which is on hiatus until 2023. Playing in this will be the equivalent of playing 1 game in Leagues Cup and losing.
I mean that makes sense, but man, sometimes the best memories are made at these BS matches... Off the top of my head: Magee scores crazy goal from distance against Man City 96k at the Rose Bowl against Barca SUPER packed HDC first time against Real (it got old later, but first time was amazing) Beating Juventus at Dodger Stadium and having some Eurosnobs start a Galaxy chant. Beckham/Riot Squad interaction vs Milan Robbie Keane's completely insane touch to score against CA
OMG how could I forget THAT??? At first I thought he deserved it, but after watching 1000 replays, I am fully convinced that he thought he heard a whistle.
I always believed he called himself offside. It wasn't showboating, he thought the play was over. We wore our LAFC jersey in that game as I recall. Of all the Galaxy uniforms I own (a lot) I regret not buying that one.
I also recall Gael Clichy (likely) getting concussed and staying in the match. (WTF!) Mancini seemed to be running City's preseason like high school football tryouts. Interesting to see how things played out after that match. We signed Robbie Keane and won MLS Cup. Man City won the Premier League title.
This one will be on ESPN... if Chivas is in the mood, we might get spanked in front of a large crowd.
What a useless friendly for us. Wedged between two draining away games played in heat and humidity. then we get the “opening act” treatment kicking off at 5:30 so no one will be there and we’ll look like the JV squad to “main act” LAFC. Not a fan. Hope we play Galaxy 2
That's not how this works - Chivas fans will be there. Galaxy fans don't show up to friendlies anyway.
It also probably won't look too great on TV since some will come late and others will leave early, so the stadium might never look full. Oh well, maybe a prelude to a large stadium traffico one day soon??
The crazy thing about this is, you have Chivas and America fans, whom hate eachother and Galaxy and LAFC fans, whom hate eachother, all in one place basically for this match. Hope security is good.
Is this game being televised anywhere? I feel kind of dirty for admitting I’ll watch it. But if I can, I will.
