Gullit and Lalas out! Cobi interim coach. Let the L.A. craziness begin... again. http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/8437812/Gullit-resigns-as-Galaxy-coach;-Lalas-out-as-well
Also, for those who care about such things, Cobi becomes the first American-born black to be an MLS head coach, interim or otherwise.
Is LA obligated to pay any of Gullit's remaining salary? I wouldn't think so if he truly 'quit' his contract. Details to come, no doubt. My prediction - Lalas is on the phone with NY at this moment.
Bite your tongue! I doubt he'll work with RBNY again. I sure do hope that he gives a helping hand to the Borough Boys and the Queens/LI team that maybe around in 5 yrs. That would be hilarious.
Galaxy Cleans House -- and here I was thinking this thread would be about sprucing up the HDC (and removing all of that dirt) after the X-games left town.
Have you heard any rumors? It would seem like the dream job for a GM. No pressure. No great expectations. Get in the playoffs every few years and your job is secure.
Unnamed source... anonymous author. I remain slightly skeptical. Trecker? Didn't he write the article for Fox Sports saying that Klinsmann was a done deal for the USMNT?
Strange timing. We've been off for 7 days but we make the move with 3 days till our next match? I feel like something dramatic must have happened over the weekend. My initial feelings: 1) I'm not sad to see Lalas go. I've learned not to blame him completely for everything but the bottom line is that his teams underachieve. If I'm not mistaken, they've kept Bravo which I am happy about. 2) I really can't complain about Ruud's coaching during matches. He made some very good adjustments during some matches. He tried some things that were pretty reasonable considering what he was working with. I always felt like he didn't know how to construct a defense. For how little he understood all the in's and out's in MLS I don't think he did a horrible job. I have no idea what he was like behind the scenes, I'm assuming it was ugly.
