Here is a boy who played for Atlanta United U-15 in the GA Cup qualifying. ussoccer97531 mentioned something about him. Definitely a player to follow for the U-16 cycle. 1228406971537272832 is not a valid tweet id
Good player but need to see more IQ. He can’t physically bully kids like that forever. Here’s to hoping Atlanta can teach one of their academy players to understand tactics at the pro level
FCD U17 losing 2-0 to Portland and 3-0 to Colorado. Not sure if they have brought up their 05s yet, but perhaps now is the time. This looks like the worst U17 team FCD has ever had.
'04 AM Nicolas Perez Guillen has been playing for LA Galaxy U17s. Former Toluca academy player who was at a couple US U15 camps. Second Liga MX academy player LAG U17s have recently picked up, along with '03 Adrian Gonzalez.
Some players that have shown well in Houston that have not been previously discussed on a national stage. We all know who the really good ones are in each age group, but here are some others people should keep an eye on. Bryan Moyado - LAFC U15 - seems to be cut from a similar cloth as Danny Leyva. Slight build, but covers a ton of ground. Prototype holding midfielder in that he doesn't create much on the ball, but keeps possession and does a great job protecting the back four. Carlos Diaz - LAFC U15 - played LB and I really like his game. Good on the ball and defending was very clean. Pretty athletic kid that showed some danger getting forward. Jonathon Dadzie - FC Dallas U17 - New to the program this year from California, but he is a standout on an otherwise poor, dysfunctional FCD team. He is very similar to Justin Che, but does not take as many risks as Che does. Would put him at the top of the second class of 2004 born CBs. Tarik Scott - FC Dallas U15 - As much as I see this team play, I haven't seen this kid get much time before. Big, athletic attacker that plays anywhere across a front three. Seemed to be very good on the ball and has the ability to beat defenders with ease. Lacks a little bit of final product, but involved in multiple FC Dallas goals. Tega Ikoba - Portland Timbers U17 - Absolute handful of a striker with amazing speed. Dominates a little too much from a physical standpoint and has lots of room to improve technically. Very good movement for a younger player that sees the proper run more times than not. A few others have caught my eye that I haven't noticed before, but the ones above stood out more than the others. The usual suspects amongst known prospects have played very well in the matches I have watched.
'03 US U16 DM Daniel Edelman has apparently been playing for NYRB U17. DA site still has him with PDA.
Could it be that FCD is basically sandbagging with this team because they recognize the logjam of prospects ahead of them. I have no idea if this is plausible at all, but the U15s are on the same dominant track that their older age groups have been, so this age group seems to be an outlier. Could that be on purpose?
No, they are just poor compared to typical FCD squads. As poor as this group is, don’t forget the 2003 year will end up producing Pepi, Sealy and Jonathon Gomez. I also expect Justin Che to be a decent pro. From a top end stand point, there hasn’t been many years better than this for the club. No shame in producing 4 YNT players in one birth year. This is just what the club will have to deal with if they keep promoting players to USL and MLS. The 2004 year has some decent players as well. Dadzie, Carrera, Elizalde (who is coming back from ACL), Reynolds and Gutierrez are all very good players. They just don’t have much depth after that.
Based on the assumption that even U-17 NT doesn't usually produce more than 2-3 MNT players (unless it's 1999 U-17), that year can still be great. All 3 have very high potential, especially considering that 2 of them are strikers and the third is LB.
Chicago Fire went 6-0-0 and only conceded one goal which I think is pretty incredible. That's the team to watch in Dallas. Sadly the club does not value their academy and does not have a u19 or USL team. There are a lot of pro prospects in that group that will be stuck playing at an inferior level.
I don't think '03 is anywhere close to a bad age group for FC Dallas, but the current U-17's at Dallas are bad because the best 03's are already in higher age groups, there's not much depth among the 03's (despite there being very good top-end talent), and then the 04's are a bad age group for Dallas.
