Hello everyone, I am personally very excited about this because my home town in Portugal is actually Chaves. It has been a while since we have been back in Division 1 and we should have made it last year. But finally we are back!! This upcoming season will be very difficult for me to decide between Porto and Chaves. But anyway, LETS GOOOO CHAVES!!!!!
Congrats! Good luck to your team and hope they stay up. How do you think their team looks for this season?
Very excited for this season! I believe we definitely have the possibility to be a mid-tier team right off the bat! We have had very good showings against good B teams in the division 2 league also beating some teams that used to be in division 1 fairly easily. My main concern is our inconsistency, we tend to lose or tie games that we should not. But we still perform well against good teams. As for pre-season we were able to tie against Vitoria Guimaraes but we did also tie and lose against two division 2 teams (once again showing the inconsistency). They are pre-season games so it is hard to see where we actually stand because we don't know who is actually going to be on our starting 11 as for the other teams as well. The youth on our team is something I am very excited about as well. We have some very good young talent that may be sold to bigger clubs in the near future which will help us earn a lot of money to buy more talent that is up and coming. I am hoping we can pull off something in a few years like what Braga has been doing. As for young players on our squad to look out for: Alioune Fall (acquired this off season by FC Vizela). Age 21. Nationalizes from Senegal and France. Chico Ramos (acquired this off season by Porto's youth team). Age 21. Portuguese! Joãozinho Joãozinho. Age 19. Portuguese! Francisco Ramo. Age 21. I want to say Portuguese? but not 100% sure. Lamine Ba. Age 22. Guinea-Bissau Latyr Fall. Age 22. Senegal
I'm not from Chaves but I'm Trasmontano so they will have my support. I'm about 50km south of Chaves . I was at the Chaves stadium a few times. I remember their grass being impeccable, probably better than the big 3 back in the day.
Glad to see another Trasmontano who is going to support Chaves as well as Porto! Its funny there stadium is literally 20 feet away from the house I own in Chaves!
Chaves had a friendly today against Maritimo. Final score 1-1. Fabio Martins scored he is a 23 year old loaned to Chaves by Braga. He scored in the 16th minute. Maritimo was able to tie it up at the 88th minute due to a penalty..
Hope Chaves do well too I also have family from the region., I've been to Chaves and seen the stadium.
Well, heading into week 5 and these guys are still undefeated. They're stealing a lot of points from some teams early this season. And IMO they were robbed of 3 there own today against Setubal, that offside call was BS. I give them credit too, Setubal was playing for the tie at the end with awful time wasting even when they were on the attack. But Chaves pushed the ball everytime they had a chance, they wanted to win. Never would've guessed this so far lol
It's the transmontano fighting spirit along with a strong core of players that give it their all. They were always a very tough team to play against back when they were in the 1st division years ago. Wait until the big 3 go to Chaves.
Since I am from Chaves, I am thinking about going to Chaves when they play against Porto at home. I would get to see my two favorite teams
4 points out from 1st place and will be sitting solely in 5th place at the end of the weekend. First you had my curiosity, now you have my attention. From second division to top half of 1st league table. Well done so far G.D Chaves
They are playing SOO well. Honestly, they should have beat or tied against Benfica. They just missed a few sitters.
Hi, as a new member of forum and a Galatasaray fan I wonder your oppinion about 'Marcao' (Marcos do Nascimento Teixeira) who recently transffered by Galatasaray from Chaves. He seem tough and technically good in his first match last week in Galatasaray aganist Ankaragucu.
