If anybody hasn't checked this out it's well worth a laugh. Just go to http://www.metrostars.com to get a glimpse of their marketing campaign. The Magpie
You should see the "MPF" advertisement in today's Newark Star Ledger...a picture of a face-painted nutjob with a soccer shoe and miniature goalpost on his head, pointing to himself. If anything, the ad makes me want to stay away from the game for fear I'd run into somebody like that. The concept of "MPF" is nearly as embarrassing to us as NYR Metros' posts over here.
To top it off Al Roker interviewed some girls on that morning show wearning the hats MPF. When Al asked them what the hats were for they replied "for some local soccer team." MOVE METROS (at least the whole front office) about 40 ft off the Isle of Manhattan!
This is an interesting policy- from metros site- all playoff tix are $25. The good seats are first-come, first-served.
"funniest part is the empty seats in the background..." Hey, could easily be Gillette Stadium. The Magpie
hey at least they are advertising. What are the Revs doing? They have a 8 days more to get fans in the seats,,,,,bet ya good money the Mutts get more fans to show up than the Revs. Marketing for the Revs is just pathetic.
Looks to me like the Metrostars are doing it right. All tickets $25? The McFamily Pack looks like a GREAT deal, $90 for 4 tickets, dinner and a soccer ball? If the Revs did this stuff we'd be ecstatic.
The good folks of NY/NJ apparently were vaccinated: 10,211 showed up, and it didn't look like that even that many were there. As for the Revs, I think the extra week combined with the attention they'll get for this win plus the Patriots having a bye week will make a big difference. This should be a 20,000 crowd. (And I should be a millionaire, but...)
