Charges dropped homie. ******** you and your cancel culture. And for the record, ******** the fickle court of public opinion.
What a horrid person you are. anywho, the club is conducting an internal investigation. While that is ongoing, he's still not allowed to train or play.
The British Press destroyed their Ginger prince for being with an Octoroon. They go after black players for buying their mom's houses. And you think they won't eat alive a guy like Greenwood. You must inhabit different planet.
Club statement: Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete. https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/man-utd-club-statement-about-mason-greenwood-on-2-feb-2023
OK we don't really need to revisit this again. it's clear minds are made up either way. some think he's guilty regardless of verdict or evidence and others are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. all that matters now is what the club decides anyway
It must be really hard for you to be stuck between hating the representation of black males in western society and sticking to your woke "we must take this man's fate into our own hands and punish/cancel him ourselves" bullshit. The hypocrisy must weigh heavy, especially since you clearly can't think for yourself. Ride your party line to the grave my guy.
I would say my view is much more nuanced but you are right at all comes down to what the club wants to do
your view is your view. you don't need to defend it to me. we'll just see what the club says whenever they make their decision
no it isn't because it was a statement in general. this thing does exist outside of this forum as well
Reducing what happened to that young woman to the opinions of those who think he's guilty/not guilty is harmful. In fact, that's the least nuanced view. Saying minds are made up when like 3 people have said words to the effect of "I don't know what should happen here" or "I don't know what to make of this development" demonstrates a shocking lack of reading comprehension.
I've spent the last 40 years of my life working with, teaching, coaching and mentoring young people, specifically athletes. This is a difficult time for all parties involved. For the purpose of this forum I'd like to say that I hope Manchester United does what is best for all concerned, not just what is expedient or "good optics." This man needs to rebuild his young life, and if it isn't at United then it will be somewhere else. I hope that United takes the position of "taking care of their own" and not just making this someone else's problem. That, in and of itself, is good for the club too. I would hope that the club could see its way to really get this kid the help he needs.Money and stardom comes too quickly for some, and proper guidance is key. All that said, he's still a "generational talent" that if fully rehabilitated could help this club immensely on the field, and potentially "pay back" the club for the support he is given. We talk about being a part of the "United family." Family needs to nurture and support. And sometimes that comes in the form of tough love. If he can grow and mature off the field, perhaps he can be a redemption story for our academy and our club. When you listen the stories of how many people came to the aid of Ravel Morrison in an attempt to get his life/career back on track it gives us all hope that Mason will get similar support. And just maybe he will show us all the strength of character that Ravel lacked. We already know he has the talent. Either way, I'm cheering for him.
i am not reducing anything because i don't definitively know what happened. if you want to assume that i assume minds are made up go ahead. the thread title alone speaks to that, nevermind the discourse within. if you want to limit the scope to you or a few then fine or pretend that's been the only opinion expressed fine. no problem. i get it. you get emotional with these things for whatever reason(s) - this, Ronaldo, Ratcliffe and wishing dick cancer etc. you've taken a general statement personal offence for whatever reason but OK if you want to continue down the path you and Chaz were going go right ahead. been through it and the name calling, accusations and whatever else and don't think it's useful but whatever works for you
I'm guessing this is exactly what the club is investigating. Withdrawal of key witnesses could easily mean just some sort of a pre-trial agreement/Greenwood agreeing to pay them to avoid trial. But they also mention 'new material that came to light'. The club is trying to find out whatever this 'new material' is.
Are you an actual moron? You said it was clear minds were made up. I don't have to assume it, I can read it. Just take your L and be quiet.
I don't exactly know how you can have heard the audio and seen the pictures and not find the mere thought of cheering for this guy in a football stadium literally puke-inducing.
Rehabilitation of someone’s life after making grave mistakes does not require them to go back to exactly the same job because they said they were sorry and learnt their lesson. Go set up a retreat for troubled young men to learn carpentry, or set up a sports centre / gym that also teaches kids from your local area how to respect women. Whatever. It’s specifically this idea that it’d be a real shame for Man Utd to lose a good footballer out of this that I find abhorrent. Learning your lesson with ‘mistakes’ of this magnitude simply should not involve you going back to exactly the same life. The longer people go on being ok with rapists playing football for their clubs as long it gets them goals/trophies etc, the more we will continue to hear about rape and sexual assault charges brought against football players. Because chances are the charges will fail to stick and everyone will conveniently pretend to believe that failure to convict = innocence, and choose to misunderstand what ‘innocent until proven guilty’ actually means. It genuinely creeps me tf out.
It’s not lost on me that the two people who come on here and constantly speak in absolutes, think they have everything figured out. Nice to know we’ve got a couple of bastions of moral adeptness on here.
What kind of grey area is there in this case? We know from the released materials that this guy beats up his girlfriend and doesn't understand or care about consent. From a moral point of view, this case is very, very simple.
People seem to keep confusing the idea that not believing you'll get a conviction (when the main victim/witness will no longer testify) equals "They've decided he's innocent". Can't ever look at him the same way again, and at the end of the day this is football, he's not a brilliant medical practitioner or scientist or someone who will at least benefit others through being given continued opportunities in his field, if he loses out so be it.
