It's not about whether it's the same injury or not, but rather an MLS team knowingly signing a player with chronic injury problems that have drastically affected his playing time going back years now (Rossi last saw competitive action in the 2017-18 season, for a total of only 10 games).
Ready to start this adventure. Let’s go RSL 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼!!!!!!!! #mls #realsaltlake #soccer #nevergiveup #PepitoIsBack #GR7 pic.twitter.com/08lWjliZTi— GIUSEPPE ROSSI (@GiuseppeRossi22) February 27, 2020
Serie B side Monza wants Rossi, according to reports. Club is owned by Berlusconi. His contract with RSL goes until December. https://www.the-sun.com/sport/1105187/man-utd-giuseppe-rossi-serie-b-monza-free-transfer/
I don’t think he touched the ball more than 3 times. RSL were already 2-0 at that point. All you saw of him were a couple of face shots and comments about this experience.
Rossi finally scored for RSL this weekend. With all he's been through, I'm happy for the guy to finally be back, and have the chance to show what he's got.
Such a shame the way his career turned out. Cautionary tale with nagging injuries, hopefully he can still find the net a decent amount in MLS.
I agree, but he also scored a lot of goals and had some really good seasons and moments at Fiorentina and Villarreal.
Rossi's contract with RSL ends December 31. Not sure if they'll resign him or not. This could be the end of the road.
Note: Rossi is the only American to have scored 10 goals or more in five different seasons in a top-5 European league. He did it four times in Spain, and once in Italy. (Only American to do that in those two countries.) Dempsey had 10+ goals in two seasons in England. McBride only hit 9 in two different seasons in England. No American has yet to score 10+ goals in France or Germany in one season. I think the American with the most goals in the Bundesliga in one season is....Fabian Johnson with 6 goals in 2015/16. Second place is...Bobby Wood! With five goals for Hamburg in 2016/17. Tied with Bradley, who had five goals for Borussia in 2008/09 and Claudio Reyna, 5 goals for Wolfsburg in 97/98. And 5 for Timmy Chandler in 2019/20. Most goals by an American in Ligue 1 in a season: Bedoya, 5 goals, Nantes, 2013/14. (I'm not counting Altidore's mega season in the Netherlands, which is not a top-5 league.)
So has Rossi officially retired at this point? I wonder if he will get into coaching, could be a great assistant somewhere in MLS.
Bigger man boobs than me. Feeling a little better about my man boobs right now. Who are we kidding, I have nice man boobs.
He is also on the Manchester United podcast and the hosts were confused about his use of the American term "pickup game".
