So what's more shocking, Armenia beating Belgium or Lithuania losing to Faroe Islands?

    Definitely Armenia in my opinion.

    Good luck Advocaat!

Damn, finally a quality win for Armenia. I've been predicting Lithuania to fall hard after their positive start, so not much of a surprise for me.

Belgium is a pretty weak team, but Armenia is hardly a complete minnow.

The Faroe Islands have not won a game since 2001 against Luxembourg. Lithuania have professional players and actually beat France (I think). So therefore, I say the Faroe win.

Armenia's a minnow dude, despite a strong footballing tradition.

Armenia is not anywhere near the class of Faroe's, Lichtenstein, Andorra. They have professional players, not weekend warriors.

Lithuanian loss is more of a surprise.

Well yea, if you count minnows as those semi-pro teams than you'd be right. Apart from those squads Armenia is one of Europe's weaker teams right now.

Armenia is a weak team, but they have players playing in Ukraine, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Romania and Isreal as professional players. The Faroe Islands have one player who is signed to Manchester City, and one player that plays in the first division of Denmark.

A couple play for lower level Danish teams, but most of the players compete in the internationally renowned Faroe Island's Premier League.

    There is no comparison.

I know that friendlies don't count, but they did beat Iceland earlier this year.

The biggest surprise was Georgia U-21 beating Turkey U-21 4:0

I'd put Iceland on level terms with Lithuania, so that is a bit of a surprise.

Yes and no. Georgia as we all know produces boat loads of talent ( despite being a countyr of 2-3 million) but they almost never play to their ability.

    Loss to FI. Ugh.

Lithuania never beat France, lost both matches 1-0. Its times like this I'm happy to be a USA supporter (until we go out and get smacked by T&T or something equally pathetic.). Lithuania is getting much better, but losing to Channel Islands and extra-territorial dependencies is embarrassing.

This would be like USA going out and losing to Barbados. Does FI even have a pro league... or a single pro club?

Not FSU, but did anyone else see how Japan netted 3 goals in 13 mins to beat Ghana 4-3? Friendly or not, thats a ferocious come back.

I've always like Japan's brand of football.

They not only have a pro league, they have two divisions. I don't think they get paid much.

Faroe Islands. Although for a minnow, they've been known to take points every here and then. Also, wasn't Lithuania supposed to be improving?

Lithuania is the worse loss. Armenia take points from Portugal and Turkey so them beating Belgium isn't as shocking to me compared to losing to Faroes.

How about Latvia fighting for 2nd place

Another surprising result was Moldova 1-1 Greece. 90' equalizer for Moldova.

Nice, Moldova has a good number of ethnic Russian/Ukrainian players as well.

I'm actually not that surprised about Latvia, especially since they've been to Euro 2004.

Bosnia getting a draw with Turkey was a huge result. It keeps them four points clear in 2nd place.

No surprise on Latvia here, either. They are the best footballing nation of the Baltics. Lithuania could be better than they are, but beating Russia (and their naturalized Americans) in Basketball is far more important.

Yeah Bosnia plays Estonia, so Bosnia is basically #2 assuming they avoid a massive choke.
