In the 1st match between the teams since the break-up of their affiliation, the teams play tonight at 7:00 at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster. No bells and whistles of a league matchday thread and no mention of a live stream, so any game info will likely come via the teams' tweets and any one actually attending the game. Assume McCarthy will ge tteh nod in goal with Blake away on Jamaica duty while benchwarmers like White, Creavalle, Hoppenot, McLaughlin, etc. will get plenty of minutes - might even see an academy player or trialist to help make up the roster numbers.

Reserves get the starts in Lancaster: McCarthy in goal, Wenger and Creavalle at outside backs, Fred at CM, Ayuk and McLaughlin on the wings with Hoppenot playing AM/withdrawn striker.

City Islanders starting striker, Craig Foster, sounds a lot like Union alumni, Brian Brown (Foster, 5'10" and 23 y/o, is a speedy striker who won the Jamaican Golden Boot last season like Brown did the previous season). Foster has 9 goals in 8 games so far with the City Isalnders. Ekra was briefly on the Union roster in 2013. Barril was a Union preseason trialist in 2014.

Such a Union way to end the half.

White scores in the 48th minute to tie it. He was red carded in his lone City Islander game as a loan player last season IIRC.

Maidana and Casey add goals 3-1 Union - LeToux assists on both. 3-1 Union win.

See this is about the Union's speed. Can both the first team and U2 play in USL next year?

PA announcer was encouraging fans to do the wave during play. Awful

I know they only played a small number of minutes, and everything was probably laid back, but was there any reason these guys had to even touch the field? Even at a 1/2 jog you can still pull a hamstring. Dumb.

It's not like Maidana is going to play anything meaningful until September 30th anyway.

I don't get this at all either. Must be for the benefit of the fans. I'd rather see bench guys and academy players if they insist on doing this midseason.

Towards the end of the Barnstormers season, HCI needed a test event there in case their stadium reno gets approved, Union needed to play the friendly by the end of the season as part of the existing partnership agreement I presume. Need to trot a few real players in the exhibition, otherwise fans feel they get fleeced even more than at a regular league game.

I imagine this didn't go over too well with the Barnstormers. They needed to postpose their home game yesterday because the field was unplayable

Some mountains need to be built from molehills, but this isn't worth the construction permit.

They usually get Less than 3K at the gate (Barnstormers) on a monday. 6+ was on Monday pretty good. Idk what portion goes to the Barnstomers. But I'm guessing its better than what they were gonna have.

for a one off game, yeah. but if this was truly a "test case" for when their stadium construction is happening...I'm not sure it went over well.

For all I care HBG can move anywhere else. I would love to have them in HBG. (From HBG although I don't live their anymore). The gameday exp. is awful unless you are 10 years old. Im not talking supporters culture. Im talking about just wanting to go to a game.

agreed, it is absolutely awful. if they need a temp home during construction, a local high school would prob be the best fit. although they loss alcohol sales.

They did play at Hershey Stadium for a few years, not sure why they wouldn't just go there...
