How many games have these guys played together?

These are exactly the type of games where you put these players in.....especially if they are the bulk of players that will play in the Nations League in June.

I'm not expecting young dudes that aren't considered for Qatar and 1 guy with zero first team minutes to run wild...

I haven't seen a Martino team play well in a long time. No reason to think that was going to change today. Not that anyone today made a case for themselves anyway.

Too late to change coaches now....a new coach will take over after the WC

While I will always root for Mexico to win...the Nations League games coming up don't mean shit to me.

This isn't saying the team sucks but that certain players do and it's not a thing about "the team didn't have idea" but players that should have done better individually. Players like Jordan Carrillo or Flores are very young and should do better in time ,etc. But players like Erick Sanchez, who didn't shine in the 2021 Gold Cup when given a chance, become super hyped because of his Liga MX and get an even better chance and proceeds to do even worse, then it's a bad sign. More so the few players who were looking for a chance like Erick Aguirre, who drops a notch after this. It also not like this is the first time .

It might be not doom and gloom overall for the National team especially with the World Cup but stuff like the Nations Leauge is a problem especially in terms of the future. The Liga MX players that are hyped a lot aren't as good as thought and it might be a problem like that 2017 Gold Cup team that overall didn't really matter for the 2018 team but all this tenure it would have been a great boost for the NT to have them doing something instead of them crashing out like they did (Too few Edson Alvarez in that team and too many Barragans and Cubo).

Still time for Marcelo Flores to play for Canada

It would be a smart move, Canada is more talented

I thought the pressure of qualifying had really dragged the team down but it doesn’t seem to be the case, if the reports are true that tata isn’t able to quit the team then his resentment towards the job is really reflected in the team, lifeless. There’s no reason a friendly against a team like Guatemala should have this little idea.

Didn’t even think Lira was that good.

The defense was the best part.

Hopefully Marcelo shuts up, puts his head down, and works for a spot now. He didn’t look like a wonder kid out there.

Shuts up? They asked him and he answered honestly that if Mexico calls him, that’s where he wants to be.
what was he supposed to do/say?

Cohesion for a young team that has not rely played together is not the issue. It's the timing on the ball, slow reaction, passing was predictable and quite frankly had limited ideas to once again break a bunker.

You had a 29 year old debut with the NT and he definitely looked like he didn't belong.

I would respectfully disagree. If they're good they're good, payers don't just suck all of a sudden. I'll always believe that it comes down to coaching.

Don’t think it matters who you put out there, it’s just tough to look good playing Tata Ball. No cohesion but that was to be expected.

Good to see the young players getting some time. It was clear Mexico had the greater talent base, but Guatemala played like a disciplined, well coached team that knew what they were trying to do.

If Tata can get results than all will be forgiven. Doubtful he’ll get the results though.

Except maybe they weren't that good at all and the international game just shows it. The Hobbit Bermudez syndrome is alive and well nowadays.
