There is not even one U-23 players in the Chinese lineup. Petrovic still plays 4-5-1 with his old players. This sucks.

    Erectile Dysfunction... :D

Anyway I'll say it'll finish in a draw, given China's poor form.

The hero for China, as expected, is Zhu Ting. He scored each 1 goal against USA U-23 and Energie Cottbus, then 2 goals against Bayern Munich. This afternoon he assisted goal no. 1 and scored goal no.2.

China played like shit in the first half when Petrovic still fielded his old "erectile dysfunction" team. In second half, he fielded 2 U-23 players - Zhu Ting and Zhou Haibin, who made the Chinese attacks more powerful and at last saved the face of China.

The second goal was created by those 2 U-23 players. A corner from Wang Dong was headed by Zhou Haibin towards Zhu Ting who then scored the goal with his head.

China will become much stronger if CFA changes the stupid coach. But it seems unlikely now after winning over Syria. I hope the game ended at 1-1 so the stupid coach can possibly be changed.

Thanks. But I hope it ended at 1-1. This defeat doesn't mean Syria is weaker than China. Actually Syria was more dominating. Hussain played very well.

How big was the difference between the Chinese team today and the one who played against Lebanon last week?

In this match, China got one more player, Zhu Ting, who scored the last goal. But two defensive players, Li Weifeng and Zhai Yanpeng could not play due to injury and illness.

In the first half, Petrovic fielded his usual defensive players like what China played against Lebanon in the first half. Syria totally dominated the game and had 2 shots hit the bar while China had one.

In the second half, he fielded 2 U-23 players - Zhu Ting and Zhou Haibin which changed China from defending into attacking. Zhou Haibin played key role in supplying ball to the front while Zhu Ting interceptions in front broke Syrian defense several times. There is a third U-23 player - Feng Xiaoting. But Petrovic still kept him on the bench.

Petrovic has previously said he would only use U-23 players as reserves when facing Iraq on Feb 6. Don't know if this stubborn coach will change his mind after seeing spectacular plays from Zhu Ting and Zhou Haibin today.

Note: Zhou Haibin played in the second half against Lebanon but Zhu Ting and Feng Xiaoting had not come back to China then. China also played better in the second half against Lebanon though no goals were scored.

“I have underestimated China. I didn’t know you have secret weapon.” Syrian Coach Fajr Ibrahim said when he was interviewed by the reporter of sina.com

The following interview is quoted from http://sports.sina.com.cn/n/2008-01-27/19413445725.shtml

Sina Sports: You were playing away, why you played like a home team? (in refer to Syria playing full attacking football)

Fajr (laughing): Before this match, I saw the recording of the Chinese team performance in Dubai. I thought China sucked. Only knew to defend and no power to attack. We could say China didn’t attack at all. So I told my players to play frontal attacking to give China a shock. We played 3-5-2 while China played 4-4-1-1. My expectation was scoring 2 goals against China in the first half and then slowed down the tempo in the second half. We came from a distance so maybe we will exhaust in the second half.

Sina Sports: But finally you lost.

Fajer: I have underestimated. I didn’t expect China fielding 2 new faces (Zhou Haibin and Zhu Ting). I haven’t seen these 2 players before. They played very well to ruin my players teamwork. In the second half, our defense made 2 mistakes. We should have taken more care to our defense. Today I have made mistake. But why didn’t your coach field those 2 players as starters?

Sina Sports: But Syrian performance wasn’t bad in the first half.

Fajer: But we didn’t score. The score of the first half should be 3-1 for us but luck was not on our side. We had 7 players attacking but no goal was scored. I would later ask my players why they could not score given so many chances.
