In the first half, Petrovic fielded his usual defensive players like what China played against Lebanon in the first half. Syria totally dominated the game and had 2 shots hit the bar while China had one. In the second half, he fielded 2 U-23 players - Zhu Ting and Zhou Haibin which changed China from defending into attacking. Zhou Haibin played key role in supplying ball to the front while Zhu Ting interceptions in front broke Syrian defense several times. There is a third U-23 player - Feng Xiaoting. But Petrovic still kept him on the bench. Petrovic has previously said he would only use U-23 players as reserves when facing Iraq on Feb 6. Don't know if this stubborn coach will change his mind after seeing spectacular plays from Zhu Ting and Zhou Haibin today. Note: Zhou Haibin played in the second half against Lebanon but Zhu Ting and Feng Xiaoting had not come back to China then. China also played better in the second half against Lebanon though no goals were scored.
