I wanted Colorado to start. He looked very good in the highlights I saw on YouTube. Kid has a future.
He had a nice give and go that led to a nice shot from outside the 18 and almost had a nice goal opportunity in 73rd min. He’s got a certain electricity to him that I like.
Chara is a midfield general at the club level…games against North/Central American teams are his ceiling
We just beat Honduras with a bunch of guys who never played together before. People should temper expectations.
Nice! Hockey assist for Yaser on his debut! Only saw last ten minutes but he plays with a lot of vertigo and flipped from possession into attack a couple of times I saw.
The Good: -Quintero was fancy, inventive, and hardworking. Wore the armband well. Hope the injury is minor. -Yaser is a menace in the making. Wiggled around defenders and put in a couple beautiful through balls, including the one that set up Colorado. -Vega was the biggest surprise for me. Played simple and effectively as an 8 in the 1st half and as a 5 in the 2nd. Could be an option in the future. -Colorado has been great for Cali for years now. Expected more from him, but glad he scored. -Preciado played his @22 off. He's not a winger, but he was a threat from there regardless The Bad: -Hinestroza and Girlado had no business on this team and proved it -Candelo is not bad going forward, but that penalty was awful -Chara. It's embarrassing this guy has played as many minutes with Colombia as he has. He has the WORST 1st touch of any attacking midfielder we've ever fielded.
To be fair to Hinestroza he is not a LB naturally. Candelo also was more of a midfielder/ winger when in Mexico but for Nacional has played RB so he should have done better.
Does seem strange that Rueda does not like natural LBs. He only called up Fabra because he had no other choices in the Copa.
I understand but this squad was filled with players who aren't typically the first choice; like I was expecting them all to really put on a good show in order to show that they have something to prove and fight for.
I have to say that Honduran penalty was a bit shady. The player had his arm locked around Candelo's arm like basketball player. James Harden used to do that sorta move to draw fouls. If there were VAR I think it could have been reversed.
