Why would Harder sign with a team that already has Kerr and England up front? You'd need to play with three balls to keep all of them happy.

    Coupe de France2019/20 update:

Bordeaux v PSG 02 Aug in Libourne
Guingamp v Lyon 02 Aug at Guingamp

Final at Auxerre 09 Aug live on France 4 and Eurosport TV.

Final decision from the DNCG ( finance control team)
Issy and Soyaux are both ok to play in D1 Arkema, but the wage budget is restricted. it will hamper their recruitement obviously but it means they were in trouble to get the full budget financed.

And some new regulations for the 2020/21 season.

Introduction of the "joker medical" that has been existing for years in men's footie in France. Special allowance to recruit one player out of the transfer window for the following cases. It only applies for the professional contracts called contrats federaux

    - death of a player under contrat federal
    - serious injury to a goalie or her back-up, club can recruit one goalie
-serious injury from a player under contrat federal while with the NT if the injury lay-off is longer than 3 months.

Division 1: the number of contrats federaux possible is unchanged: unlimited. Maximum contract length is five years.
Division 2: the number goes from 5 to 12, length can go up to 2 years now from one year before.

And St-Etienne have not given up on getting promoted to D1 Arkema. They will appeal the D2 final ranking that put them in second place. They had already appealed and lost against the ruling that promoted Le Havre.

As a reminder Le Havre got 40 pts in 16 game and St-Etienne 37 pts in 15 game. St-Etienne 16th game away to Yzeure was cancelled unfairly according to them and they have a case.

The legal declaration from the City's mayor office that postponed the game due to the bad weather should have prevented ALL football games played in that town. But another game got on somewhere else in the town.

Also the FFF regulations were not followed as well: Yzeure did not have a back-up pitch, so should have forfeited the game. The FFF did not that process. Also the decision from the mayor's office was not sent to the area prefect accord to one of one French law.

Should the game be given as a win to St Etienne they would overtake Le Havre as level on points and they were ahead on the head to head tie-breaker. It is a big mess.

I guess the back-up pitch would be in the same town. So they wouldn`t been able to play anyway and I think it`s not the club`s fault if someone else ignores a legal declaration.

I am not sure, I know the PFC back up pitch is 27km away from the main one and for PSG the distance is 31km.
I think that appeal might go all the way to the highest court of the French Republic the conseil d'etat.
St Etienne have a good case.

And the FFF executive committee has decided on the players' eligiblity for those games: all players registered by the games' dates are eligible to play. New players are therefore ok to play as long as they have not played in the French Cup for other clubs during the season.

The following players are therefore eligible:
Gallardo, Gunnarsdottir, Carpenter, Becho for Lyon.
    Voll and Bachmann for PSG.
    Moorhouse and Snoeijs for Bordeaux

it will always be a mystery why some players never break out : thinking of Julie Marichaud, of Noemie Carage, but above all of Lucie Pingeon. At 16 or 17 they look not just like future pros but future big, big stars and still never really make good.

for some an explanation is easy to find : Mylaine Tarrieu's body is too fragile. for Bettina Matondo it was her head, just never took anything seriously. but for the three above I could never figure it out.

So Montpellier who finished fourth last season with a new manager have decided again to make a few changes with two key historical players leaving the club: Sandie Toletti and Sakina Karchaoui two homegrown players have gone.

They have gone for mid-range up and coming foreign players, with the exception of experienced defender Leonie Pankratz, because they cannot compete financially with the big teams. I believe around 5k Euros per month is their wage limit. The men side don't make that much money and they spend quite a good chunk of their budget for the women.

In : Maelys Mpome (VGA Saint-Maur), Marie Petiteau (FC Girondins de Bordeaux), Ashleigh Weerden (FC Twente, P-B), Adelina Engman (Chelsea FC, ANG), Dominika Škorvánková (FC Bayern Munich, ALL), Leonie Pankratz (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, ALL)
Loan return : Manon Uffren (AS Saint-Etienne), Easther Mayi Kith (FC Metz)

Out : Sakina Karchaoui (O. Lyonnais), Sandie Toletti (Levante UD, ESP), Lucie Esnault (FC Metz), Chloé Marty (Lille OSC), Laurence Saviana (Montauban FCTG)

Girondins de Bordeaux under Pedro Losa for his second season will clearly go for the Champions League places. And even the top two if possible. They lost two France World Cup players, signed one (Perisset), plus a raft of young French youth NT players,a Dutch and an English player.

In : Eve Périsset (Paris Saint-Germain FC), Mickaëlla Cardia (O. Marseille), Julie Dufour (Lille OSC), Ella Palis (EA Guingamp), Anna Moorhouse (Westham, ANG), Katja Snoeijs (PSV Eindhoven, P-B)

Out : Erin Nayler, Camille Surdez (FC Bâle, SUI), Mylaine Tarrieu (Dijon FCO), Emelyne Laurent (end of loan, O. Lyonnais), Viviane Asseyi (FC Bayern Munich, ALL), Kathellen Sousa, Axelle Touzeau (loan Rodez AF)

PSG lost some good players and also a lot of youngsters. That's what happens when you have a dysfunctionnal and badly organised club. It does not help that their sporting director Cheyrou left to go to Lyon... to get the sporting director's men job.

Coach Olivier Echouafni said they would sign more players once the final 8 in Lisbon is done.

In : Bénédicte Simon (Stade de Reims), Charlotte Voll (SC Sand, ALL), Ramona Bachmann (Chelsea FC, ANG)

Out : Bruno Cheyrou (Sporting director), Hanna Glas (FC Bayern Munich, ALL), Eve Périsset (FC Girondins de Bordeaux), Katarzyna Kiedrzynek (VfL Wolfsburg, ALL)), Lina Boussaha (Le Havre AC)

U19 team Out : Vicki Becho (O. Lyonnais), Alice Sombath (O. Lyonnais), Thelma Eninger (FC Fleury 91), Naomie Vagre (CD Pozoalbense, ESP), Sana Guermazi (CD Pozoalbense, ESP)

Title holders Lyon could have faced a big rebuilding job with key players departing. in the end only Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood, Lisa Weiss are leaving alongside youngster Eva Kouache and Naomie Feller who was on loan from Stade de Reims while Ada Hegerberg was out with her ACL.

They have managed to extend Sarah Bouhaddi and Dzenifer Maroszan who had agreed to move to Utah Royals until Covid-19 turned up in the USA.

They have replaced the two English full-backs with Aussie Ellie Carpenter who has a huge potential and France left-back Sakina Karchaoui who signed up for one season. Goalie Lolla Gallardo has come in to replace Bouhaddi... who is now staying. They also signed the Icelandic midfielder Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir.

Also being signed are 3 France youth teams players and three forwards who were all on loan last season. There is a big question mark on those six players as we don't know if they will all integrate the first team.squad once the competitions start.

In : Sakina Karchaoui (Montpellier HSC), Dolores "Lola" Gallardo (Atlético Madrid, ESP), Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir (VfL Wolfsburg, ALL), Ellie Carpenter (Portland Thorns FC, USA),

    France NT youth players
Assimina Maoulida (US Orléans), Alice Sombath (PSG U19), Vicki Becho (PSG U19)

End of loan : Jessy Roux (Stade de Reims), Emelyne Laurent (FC Girondins de Bordeaux), Melvine Malard (FC Fleury 91)

Out: Lucy Bronze (31 Aug), Alex Greenwood (31 Aug), Lisa Weiss, Eva Kouache (FC Metz), Naomie Feller (end of loan, Stade de Reims)

The men's professional league organisation LFP has donated 6 M Euros to the women football professional clubs as part of the Ligue 1 tv rights. This donation is made to help all the teams due to the Covid-19 situation. 85% of the money will go the D1 Arkema pro teams and 15% to the D2 teams who have a parent professional team like Nantes, Nice, Starsbourg or Lille for example. Those teams will get 80 000 Euros.

The problem is there are still three teams who are officially non professional in D1 Arkema so they are not supposed to get any money from those 6M and they are not happy. The 9 pro teams in D1 will get 508 000 Euros each. So the FFF is going to give those three amateurs teams 33 000 each as a compensation. The amateurs team were expecting to get 175 000 from the LFP money and had it included in their budget.

It's perfectly understandable that the LFP would handle it this way - their interest is that of their own members, meaning men's pro clubs, and they’re trying to encourage and reward those of them that are involved in WoSo. If clubs like Issy or Soyaux were given the idea they would be included in the deal it looks like poor communication more than any real cause for grievance.

That said, even if we consider the LFP as a private money-making enterprise (which is the de facto truth) and not a semi-public institution like the FFF, 6M€ is a puny effort out of their 1.1 billion per year broadcast deal. They could practically double that amount, make it an annual contribution instead of a one-off and it would still just be 1%.

Of course that doesn’t help the Fleurys and Montigny-les-Brétonneux of this world but that’s not the LFP’s concern. The FFF can and should help a lot more than a 30K€ pittance but in the long run, it will be the clubs in the LFP that have been and will continue professionalizing D1 Fem.

    professionalization D1 2.png
I made this little graph to show the evolution of “LFP” clubs in D1F, starting from the beginnings of semi – professionalization. Semi because until 2010 it was against FFF rules to pay women to play football – the “pro” clubs on the scene before then fudged the rules by giving jobs in the club shop, providing cars or housing, but no salary of any kind was allowed.

From 1992 (beginning of a unified national D1) to the start of this graph there was basically only one pro men’s club who fielded a women’s section, Toulouse Football Club, with a couple of cameo appearances from Le Mans (a fairly anonymous club for both genders) in 1995 and 1996 and PSG who finished dead last in 1994.

In 20 years the situation has completely reversed. And when you think that the coming season by rights should have had 10 LFP clubs again (ASSE) and there are also Metz, OM, LOSC, Lens it won’t be long before D1 Arkema and all the top D2 teams in the antechamber will be completely “professional” (though with widely varying budgets).

The info I dug up for this is raw material for a deeper analysis of this evolution and I hope to do a part two next week!

What's the name of the club that's along with PSG and Montepellier in the first half of the graph, since 2001, the one with TFC initials? I wasn't following women's football, back then, so I am not aware.
