Just curious as to whether or not you think the stimulus really will help us. When I see the top benificiary of the stimulus bill will be Cheesecake factory, I can't help but think this was just another waste of taxes.

I was at a Cheesecake Factory on Friday for my sister's birthday. Damn good dessert. More than likely incredibly fattening.

The stimulus will prevent the U.S. from going into a text-book recession. Foreigners won't be happy, so our currency will lose value.

Who are you directing this question toward? I hope it's not any of these people:

It was at everybody. And my question refers to the statements in the article, the preliminary estimates by wall street on who the biggest winners and losers are, as of the day of the first distribution.

You must be stupid or lazy. You should just start your own business.

We have this thing called unemployment. Well, we did until we sent every moron with a pulse $600.

And it won't help the economy. Something like 82% of the country plans on paying down debt/bills or saving it.

18% are apparently getting a bigscreen.

Republican representatives will be getting a night with a male hooker; Democratic representatives will be getting 30 minutes with a high-priced female massage therapist.

Emergency Admin and Planning is my degree. Basically all of my applications have been to local & state governments, and some civilian military. I could do business continuity, but 99% of that comes from corporations like JC Penny's or 7/11 or Aetna.

Three that you may have overlooked are Red Cross, Catholic Charities, and LDS Humanitarian Services, all of which are involved heavily in Emergency planning and disaster relief. If I remember correctly, all three of them have better emergency reaction times than most first world governments. At least that was the case in Hurricane Mitch, Hurricane Katrina, as well as the Tsunami.

I did apply for a position at the local Red Cross and basically got a 'thanks but no thanks' because I was straight out of college. And while they may have great response times, they're not comparable to state or federal governments who only act at the locals request, and aren't involved in direct response only more long-term recovery efforts. This was a common misconception made after Katrina.
