#BREAKING: #EveryoneN assistant coach Steve Guppy will coach Nashville tonight vs. #DTID. Head coach Gary Smith did not travel this morning with team due to COVID-19 test concern. Smith’s test earlier this week was false positive. Second negative not in time before departure— Drake Hills (@LiveLifeDrake) August 12, 2020

Today in #USOpenCup history...#OTD 1999: Jorge Dely Valdes scored with 29 seconds left to give the @ColoradoRapids a 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Mutiny in a Q-Final match that doubled as a regular season #MLS game. #Rapids96 remain the only #Colorado team to ever reach the Semis pic.twitter.com/XYzNH2eOrw— TheCup.us (@usopencup) August 13, 2020

Oh yeah, that B.S. draw that just coincidentally drew the Rapids against the Mutiny for the night they already had a MLS match scheduled. And they never did explain what was going to happen had JDV not scored there, given MLS was still using the Shootout.— Jason Maxwell (@RapidsJason) August 13, 2020
Pablo sighting at DSGP, pretty sure there was a sh!t-eating grin under that face mask -- his team is coming in off of D, D, W, W, W for 11 points in 5 matches -- Rapids, not so much ...
I stumbled across this today. Former Rapid Caleb Folan is on Cameo. For $20 you can get a birthday greeting from him Niki Jackson is also on there as well. https://www.cameo.com/folan
He started in Bristol Rovers 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light today. 📰 The match report for today's game is now available...#BristolRovershttps://t.co/QuaGA1p0YI— Bristol Rovers (@Official_BRFC) September 12, 2020
Badji had a goal and an assist for Nashville vs Atlanta Saturday. Laurentowicz (sp?) had a goal for Atlanta.
TUDN Champions League broadcast for some reason (Pulisic?) today had a chart of US players and most appearances in UCL. Former Rapid Jermaine Jones was tied with Beasley and Pulisic w/ 27, Claudio Renya was 5th w/ 17 and without looking it up who was 4th with 20 (not a former Rapid but none the less a surprise to me -- hint: player is back in MLS and still playing, 2nd hintL he was at Chivas USA before crossing the pond and making the CL appearances).
Chicken Dinner -- should arrive in 6 to 10 days or 6 to 10 weeks depending on postal service delays (or 'DeJoy's'?).

Carlos Bocanegra on Jeff Larentowicz: "We are not going to be bringing Jeff back next season."He is out of contract. Adds Larentowicz hasn't decided if he's playing elsewhere or not. #ATLUTD— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) November 24, 2020
Why do I have the feeling that teams will keep signing him for 5 more years? Seems like the kind of player that I'll keep seeing in different MLS teams and say "wow, he's still playing?"
At 37 he got 1111min and 19 appearances last season. Not bad for the guy! I wouldn't be surprised for him to go another year if someone offers him a spot His story is really cool too. There was a really great story in the Athletic earlier this year on the early days of the MLSPA, and Jeff's story was highlighted....some of the things he went through....man crazy times! Making $12k per year as a full time player, sleeping on couches....now he's got two championships under his belt.
How about that Gary Smith? Nashville beat Toronto 1-0 in added time (30 minutes). Just what I wrote today about the Rapids. Solidify the defense and someone will score sometime. Great game and great effort by an expansion team. Good for Smith. And it gives Jason one more time to explain why the Rapids got rid of the one coach who won a championship with lesser talent.
Gary Smith and his Rapids East squad pulled off a massive upset over TFC tonight. They had 3 goals - barely but rightfully - called back for offsides and hit the post once before finally winning in ET with a goal from Daniel Rios. I still have a lot of love for Gary. I’ll be rooting for Nashville this post season.
